got a chance to get to a range and do some testing with that last set of hollow point and other designs tested. as well as winchesters supreme elite hollow points.

pretty much only 1 of 6 rounds (3x 9mm and 3x.45) opened up pretty dam nicely. that being said it had to be hand loaded into the gun as it would not feed. and the winchester stuff worked dam good as well. i had read it was not all that good.

all were shot into a block of gel 6"x6"x16" with a box of old clothes behind it. only 1 of the 9mm bullets made it all the way through and it only hit the clothes. it never cut any holes into the clothes. same deal with the .45

here is the before, minus the soft point 9mm.

thanks for looking.

Interesting stuff. How exactly did you mill out the cavities? Aren't they a bit big, relative to the overall diameter of the bullet? I'd have worried about them failing in the barrel. Still, neat.

just drilled them out with a drill press. i'm willing to get i could go deeper and still be fine, but at the moment i'm done with testing them. i never went past half the total size of the bullet. the 9mm were total metal jackets and the .45's where FMJ.

Fun stuff, but I will stick to buying factory HP if the need arises. They aren't that expensive when you are just buying projectiles anyways.

for sure, i wouldn't ever trust my life to hollow points i made. i was just messing around seeing how different designs react.
