take down ideas

i am thinking about converting a cheap bolt action repeater in to a take-down backpacker.

the problem/worry at the moment is

the trigger,when dissembled for travel the trigger assembly seems very flimsy with out the trigger guard.

i was wonder if any body has already tackled this problem.

i was thinking of somehow mounting the trigger guard to the receiver and cutting out the stock to allow it to slide through during reassembly.

think it will work?

Take down stock

A little off topic but it might get a guy thinking how to do this.
I really like the way IZH pulls off a takedown stock on their 22LR SV99.

Very well executed! If I could ever get ahold of one of those stocks, I'd sure look into getting the takedown hardware duplicated to fit my other rimfires.

Just recently I saw one sell on the EE that looked exactly like that....not sure what kind it was.

Would it be possible to make it take down like a Stevens Favorite? Barrel removed from stock/action, with a pin or screw to secure it in place. Then you don't have loose/flimsy parts to deal with. Not sure, just wondering.

thats how the papoos & ar7 do it

but with out a machine shop,i doubt you could do it at home.

How about just holding trigger to the underside of receiver using a rubber band or a twist-tie ?

i have kinda throwing this idea around too

but i was thinking more along the line of a plastic out side with custom shaped foam on the inside.

that way it would be small,and protected,
(maybe even float)

any body know anything about shaping foam?

I think for bolt action unless we can get the Russian 1 there aren't any out there realy worth buying but if you still want every that you were asking in the O.P. take a look what Marstar has to offer;

too many small parts to lose when disassembled.

what do you mean by the russian one?
