10/22 capability

Well my 10/22 shoots great :confused:
I set up 7.62x39 shells at 50 yards and shot then. I was using a bushnell banner 3-9 and the only mod i had on the gun was a trigger job that I did myself, so i'd say its pretty stock. At 25yrds I set up 6mm BBs to shoot...maybe I got lucky with mine, but I think its plenty good enough for target shooting.

I made no claim that this is now a stock gun, the word MODIFIED should have been highlighted. The intent was to see how well it would shoot using all the stock Ruger parts, to see if they can shoot well without buying barrels and trigger groups. Other than the crossbolt and bedding, it sports all the factory hardware but now in a modified form. Other than my time(about 4 hrs including stock work), I have about $50 invested over and above the original sale price of $199. Regretfully, I did not shoot it in stock form to see how it shot. I have a lot of .22's, and very few shoot Xperts well, so for it to shoot them into FAIRLY consistant 1/2" groups at 50yds,(it has shot many), I thought that it was quite a feat. 10/22's are very hit and miss when it comes to accuracy, that is why I wanted to see if it is the parts themselves, or just how they are prepared. In the US, the claim is that Ruger builds them the way they do so that they will shoot anything and the liability to Ruger is minimal. The other side of that coin is it hurts the accuracy. This is not the only rifle I have done this to, I have done several others for friends, and 1/2" 50 yard groups are common with cheap ammo. Later.
 
Don't let them get your "goat" Mark! Your 10-22 is shooting well for what it is. Obviously, you wouldn't take it to a competition against Walthers, Annies, 40-x's or Suhls, but it is what it is, a 10-22. Eagleye.
 
Here is my bone stock 10/22 at 25 yards. Off a bipod, so I imagine in a vice it would be much better. LOL

Funny. 1 MOA 4x red dot scope actually.

I don't think thats bad for a factory gun, off a bipod, with no rest.

The biggest hindrance with the 10/22 is the trigger if you ask me. I installed a VQ hammer shortly after this and it did make a difference, but the question was about bone stock so....
