Your thoughts on the sig 229

The grip width on both the 229 and 226 are the same, the 229 grip is only shorter in heigth.

If you have small hands get the P226 and install a Sigarms short trigger "229 is only really good for CTC, which you cant do in Canada ;)"

the shorter length is what made it fit my hand better for your "fix" wouldnt really work

me, i hate barrels that have to be longer than the slide on sigs. thanks canada.
My Glock 26 is like that, in my opinion you can always thread the barrel, that makes it look like the barrel was extended for a reason(even though we can't own suppressors).

If your forced to have an extended barrel, threaded just looks better than non-threaded.

Eamples:

Glock 26 or 27
Sig Mosquito (the threaded extended barrel looks better than the goofy Sport model)

I think the Sig Rosewood grips are just pure ###y IMHO.

They are great on the eyes but they fatten the grip even more, too much for me. I really liked the accuracy of my 229 in 9mm, not so much in 40. I ultimately sold my 229 in favour of my 220 in 45. My 220 not unlike gostie's experience with his 229 has a magical ability to hit anything out to 50 + yards.

When my girlfriend and I are shooting clays at 25, 50 and 75 yards with pistols... apparantly I am not allowed to use the SIG 229 now, as that is "cheating". This sounds crazy, but the one I have, it has an almosst "magical" ability to get rounds on target. It has to be one of the most forgiving and shootable guns I have shot. I can hit clays at 25 yards with other pistols, but beyond that range I only even attempt it with a select few guns, and the 229 is one of them. It rocks!

I agree with ghostie. I own both a P226R Elite (with interchangeable .40 S&W, 9mm and .357 Sig barrels) and the P229 SAS DAK in .40 S&W. Personally, I prefer the longer slide on the P226 as it adds a bit more weight at the muzzle, which in turn helps to dampen recoil a bit. I find the .40 S&W round a bit too "snappy" in the P229 and a little more difficult to shoot accurately. Wish I had some of that "magic" that ghostie has, lol.

In any case, either pistol is a fine addition to anyone's arsenal and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them both.
