when does a gun become a sniper rifle?

The OP was trolling (and got banned for it, BTW), but it backfired and instead sparked a discussion amongst CGN'ers. So, yeah, unsuccessful troll is unsuccessful.

LOL, speaking of unprovoked. Where did that come from? You just fall into the sandbox vag first or something? Sheesh, lighten up.

Well, now that I'm here beaking off, I'll opine too. A rifle becomes a sniper rifle when it's built to be used by a sniper for sniping. Pretty simple, really.

My bad. Thought you were refering to me trolling. And I agree with your defanition. Much along the same lines as what i was getting at

I am sure glad you are so smart to know who was hunting with me. 3 outta 4 of those hunts were with hunting partners. And guess what. The one that was by myself, I still had fun. Because I enjoy hunting. But its nice that you try to tell me how my hunts went

Nice Bucks Avenger!

I tuned in a bit late, but despite the attempts to discredit your skills by a smug google-savvy opinionated youngster, I believe you have completely discredited the link between Call of Duty/Video Games and Ineptness in the field of Hunting. Maybe some day when/if this individual graduates into reality, and learns the fun involved in relieving stress after a stressful day in the real world with a fine FPS! One day he may even learn how much fun it is to 'snipe' gophers out here in Prairies. That is, when he has time after he's done with the career in the Forces.

Take 'er easy & keep knockin' 'em down!!

So that's where the epicmeal time guys get all their meat from (you look like him)

You figured me out :D Actually, I had no idea what you were talking about, so I looked it up and watched some videos on youtube. Those meals have my kind of calories And i can understand where you see a resemblence

"Sniper rifles" are used by two types of people.

1. Snipers and
2. People who call magazines "clips" and rounds "bullets".

The difference is that snipers are highly trained individuals and the others are retards who play too many video games. I'm sixteen years old and when my parents tried to make me play "Call of s**thead" like a "normal kid" I refused, as those games are, in my eyes, one of the things making people believe guns are toys and/or weapons.

Lol spoken so well. Any rifle could be a "Sniper Rifle". The only classification I have for "sniper rifle" is a rifle being used by a sniper to shoot someone. That's how I define it. Your TRG or your grandpas Win 94. If it's being used by a SNIPER for the purpose of "sniping" then it is technically a sniper rifle in my books.

I am sorry to disagree with you, but in my experience, you have traded one stress for another. I have seen too many people change while playing those games, including myself. A friend of mine played at his buddy's house when my aunt was dropping me off for a game of street hockey. She had been ###ually assaulted earlier in her life and opened the door to hear, "I just raped you so hard!" Indeed, good fun had by all. Jogs are stress-relieving, take one of those instead and we wouldn't have obese kids, which I also was, until recently.

Thank you. Sharps rifles were "sniper" rifles at one point, but would you call one a "sniper" rifle now?

You bet your sweet 16 year old ass I would. If you've ever seen what these grand old rifles can do in the hands of a skilled marksman, you'd have a different opinion.

There's nothing wrong with playing Call of Duty. I have enjoyed many games of it with some friends of mine who are in some of the top military task forces and they loved it we had a blast. Its just a game and should be viewed as such.

Let me get this straight..."In your experience". That little anecdotal story doesn't prove a thing (in fact it made little sense). You claim to be 16. If you are, you have about 10% life experience. Despite the 'Online Persona' you've been attempting to build the past year you've been here with your 1200+ posts, the majority of your posts are opinions, and have virtually no substance. Your attempts at trying to come across at being 'wise beyond your years' are EPIC. And laughable. You have ZERO credibility. That 1200+ post count next to your handle is just a number.

You call out a guy because he enjoys blowing off steam through enjoyable and harmless gaming. Then you try and use your 'high morals' to flame him and to insinuate that your hunting skills are somehow equal to his? Where are the pictures of your trophy deer? Probably 5 provinces away with your 'bits & pieces' of your 'rig build'. Yeah, I saw that post too. Whatever.

Although you want to be percieved as a guru, most guys on here realize that it's easy to look smart on the internet with the help of Google. And I will admit you have mad skills with the search engine. But that by no means makes you an 'expert' of anything. Not a goddamn thing. Just because you talk to the cool kids with the cool toys doesn't mean you're one of them. I suspect your real life is an eerie kind of a parallel of your online one. Maybe you're Mommy and Daddy suggested you play video games so you might have something to talk about with the other kids, or maybe even interact with them. IN MY EXPERIENCE, the fat kids always had it harder socially. Maybe it's that way with you? Just sayin'....

WTF do you know about stress? You're a teenager. Wait, why don't you google it.

As for jogging, I don't need too. In the real world, I wasn't a fat kid, and I'm not a fat adult. My job gives me all the excercise I need. It's also one that involves very little stress, because I make it that way. What little stress I have, I get rid of by going shooting. Because I ACTUALLY OWN GUNS.

So Poser, to quote you again:
"I am done with this conversation as it adds nothing to the discussion. If you want to carry it out further, PM me, and I may or may not respond."

But, the difference is, I will respond. I don't need to hide from you.

Then don't hide from me. If you truly have something to prove, meet me in person, and I will carry on this discussion. As much as your own virtual image of me suggests, I am not fat, but if I don't exercise, I would be. I also actually own guns, and what I am trying to prove is that I want firearms rights. I am not your enemy, so don't make me out to be.

I would love to say that video games didn't have an adverse affect of portaying gun owners. But I can't. They use that against us over and over again, just like Hollywood, as they make average, uninformed people think that guns have one purpose- to kill.

I will admit that I may have misunderstood the original comment posted by SKS Avenger, and that I may have gone too far in the discussion following, but I will not be told what I do and do not know, and what experiences I have or have not had.

I prefer to meet people through sports and activities rather than through X-Box live, as it means more to me to compete against someone in person and lose while learning a lesson about my body that could help me later in life, rather than to say, "Oh, damn. You beat me. I guess I need to press the "a" button quicker." I guess I am old fashioned that way.

I was born in Salmon Arm, B.C. and learned a lot of lessons from my grandfather. I inherited three rifles from him I would die before I sold. I am not going to have you tell me that the time my grandfather took in those B.C. forests to teach me those lessons was wasted. It really wasn't. I learned a lot from a man who was far better than you could ever be. He took 27 moose in one season and gave every bit of that away to people who needed itbut one moose, which he needed to feed himself and his family. That man taught me everything he thought I should know, and I will not say his energy and lessons were wasted.

Anyway, I thank those on this forum who have been very kind and welcoming, especially Jerry Teo, who would answer any question you put in front of him. Sadly, there are some snobs and dicks on here who would have no part in a forum with anyone who thinks differently. Without mentioning names of said people, I bid farewell and go into hiding on a site that doesn't seem to want another shooter.

I love target shooting and would love a gun that can shoot as far as I can see, but I believe anything classified as a "sniper"rifle is illegal.

So is it calibre or speed or distance that dictates the law?

A rifle becomes a sniper rifle when you point it at a human with the intent to fire.

For every hour of MW2 my kids want to play they need to watch an hour of a real war documentary...more than once...Then they walk the dog and do at least 2000m on the rowing machine. MX season approaches...

Currently we are on Restrepo.....

Uh-huh. Another post that speaks volumes about the level of delusion & maturity you bring to the table. I'll break it down for you, slowly (my comments are in bold so you don't miss them):

-Obiviously, I'm not hiding. And I have nothing to prove, unlike yourself who is trying to create some kind of imagined legitimacy of a Firearms Expert on a Web Forum. I will not meet you or anyone else from the internet. That's just weird. I thought I made it pretty clear that I feel you have very little or NOTHING to contribute to any discussion I would deem valuable. I never stated you were my enemy. I didn't even call you a troll. I called you a Teenage Poser Wannabe who thinks because he can Google info and look smart, people will think he is. I stand by my original assessment.

I would love to say that video games didn't have an adverse affect of portaying gun owners. But I can't. They use that against us over and over again, just like Hollywood, as they make average, uninformed people think that guns have one purpose- to kill.
- Video games are just that. GAMES. Movies are just that. MOVIES. The NEWS is just that. THE NEWS. THEY ALL PORTRAY FIREARMS OWNERS IN A NASTY LIGHT! Get used to it. Your high moral ground you hold regarding Gaming is something unique to you, and several fundamentalist religious groups....

I will admit that I may have misunderstood the original comment posted by SKS Avenger, and that I may have gone too far in the discussion following, but I will not be told what I do and do not know, and what experiences I have or have not had.
-Your smug holier-than-thou comments are what got you to this point, you Poser. Oh, you are right about your experiences; no one can tell you what you imagined. Real knowledge is gained through experience, not learned off of the internet. Like I stated before, you have ZERO credibility, just a high post count.

-I bet you do. What sage advice. Justify your sense-of-self anyway you want. I bet it wasn't your fault you were fat, it was a glandular issue like your Mom said. Let me know how your scrapbooking weekend turns out. Maybe a jog with all the single ladies at Weight Watchers? Enjoy.

I was born in Salmon Arm, B.C. and learned a lot of lessons from my grandfather. I inherited three rifles from him I would die before I sold. -Wow, I'm welling up <sniff> The Jeremiah Johnson angle, nice touch.... Oh wait, no I'm not. I don't care. Sounds like if you take all you learned from him, it appears that you'll turn out to be one heck of a POACHER.

Anyway, I thank those on this forum who have been very kind and welcoming, especially Jerry Teo, who would answer any question you put in front of him. -Oh here it is, the part I was waiting for - The Exit Speech/Sypathy Troll. I imagine you're now waiting for the "Please Don't Go" posts to start rolling in, clinging to your belief that someone may value what you had to say to beg you to stay. The veiled insults are a nice touch too!! Hope it works out for you the way you want. While you're waiting, I suggest you use your search engine skills to locate and print off an 'Internet Hurt Feelings Report' - grab a crayon - fill it out, and get your Mom to fax it to someone who gives a shiite. Oh, don't forget to start a farewell thread in General, that's a nice touch too!! Whatever.
