How many different handguns do Canada's Police, Border Officers, Military, etc, Use ?

I know I'm right. I don't need your confirmation. And ERT ran them for more than 'a bit'. I'm also glad you aren't saying I'm a lesser person, I just wouldn't be able to sleep tonight if you were. But you 'think' I need to stop? So you aren't sure? Should I continue until you know for sure?

Hold on though, if you're talking to the Staff, you're probably working. Are you using a work computer for surfing cgn? And even if you're using your phone, shouldn't you be working and not checking cgn if you're on the clock right now?

You know what your totally right. I should work every minute of my 12 hour shift, I am terrible person and I should lose my job. I also suck because I had an issue with the way you chose to talk to me. I am glad someone of your experience and knowledge shares our perspective. Enjoy sh**ing on people from your high horse. You win the Internet.

Trivia

Trivia question (WP gets 2 Gold stars if he gets it): What pistol did the RCMP initially announce they were adopting that caused a s**t storm to happen and S&W to be chosen?

They use sigs prior to the 1995 acquisition to the 5946?

I don't believe Sig has been used by the RCMP, including ERT teams. Could you clarify what you said though? Were they used or implemented?

On the RCMP & Sigs discussion.... I knew a Mountie Cpl circa 1990 here on the lower Island, that was ERT but main duty was with the local JFO. He mainly worked plainclothes & carried a Sig on duty. As did all the local RCMP ERT guys. Not exactly sure of the model, though, but it was a Sig in 9mm. 'Course in that era the regular general duty members carried the 5" S&W wheelgun in .38 Special. And since the lower Island also has municipal cops they were carrying 4" S&W Model 10's for uniform duty in that era as well.

I was told by a current Border Guard here in Windsor, that their issued piece was a new model Beretta, not sure if it's a 9mm or 40.

VPD uses .40cal Sig 226's, the Police Act in BC requires police forces to use .40cal, except for the RCMP who still use the 9mm SW...

Here on the lower Island, the local municipal members on GV-ERT carry Glocks in .45 GAP.

Piperdown, I'm gonna guess it was a Beretta that they first announced before it was the S&W?
Second guess is a Glock of some sort.

OPP TRU uses Sig X5s, yes single action and yes 9mm. They had precedent with their previous High Powers for SA 9mm.

Gawd, I remember the 226 in the system in '85.

I still think wheel guns are real guns.

The only thing this thread is missing is beer tub chicks and Freemen.

Wait is this part of your conflict resolution training shining through? De-escalation of argumentative procedures through forthright and positive commands.

but simply I don't like the way your talking to me and I think you need to stop.

I have heard they are having problems getting enough spares and parts for the 5946. Also the DFO fish cops use them as do BC Sheriffs. The DFO models have their crests on it, some of the sheriffs have the RCMP logo on them.

I haven't heard about any problems for spares. I know Smith did a run of a bunch of stuff for us a little while ago. I think we've got enough in the system and inventory to last quite a while (unfortunately).

It's a great gun for general duty and patrol, but there are other better options out now. One of which isn't the Px4 that cbsa got stuck with. :p

Here is a list. Please make any correction and add what you know, this is to the best of my knowlege.

RCMP 9mm don't know what make
Ottawa police 40 Glock
Kingston police 40 SIG
Prince Albert Police 40 Glock
Saskatoon Police 40 Glock
Correctional Services 9mm HK

I have shot quite a few different 5946's what I find is the trigger pull varies greatly, while they all have the heavy pull required some are like butter and others are like sandpaper.

I have heard from an O.P.P. officer that their tactical units are carrying .45 Sigs, but he could have been wrong. It seems that the S&W M&P 40 is taking the police universe by storm, I wonder if Glock is worried?

OPP TRU are using 9mm SIG X5's in SA as are a bunch of their firearms instructors. At one time there were HK P7's out there also, both PSP and M8 but they are unfortunately all gone now...

editted to add - Slavex beat me to it...

And on a totally different note - can we not dispense with the term "operator"??? It's the most over-used, whored-out, tired slack and inappropriate terminology in use at the current time. In the same vein can we dispense with "running" also?? As in "on my carbine/blaster/vest/chest rig I'm currently running..." - if all you're doing is going to the range to play and aren't using your rig to shoot bad guys in the face, you aren't "running" $hit.

What's wrong with "shooter" and "using"?? Oh yeah - they're not on COD 1/2/3/19 or Black/Green/Purple/Rainbow Ops or whatever the newest iteration of game is. Cops aren't "operators" either even if they are ERT/TRU/ETF/EIEIO - they're cops...

I need another coffee...

They're spec'd for 8-12lbs. If you find one that's under 10, you're lucky.

And they are inconsistent as far as feel. Like you say, some are pretty smooth, others are gritty and rough. The only way around that is internal work which is against policy and can get you in some trouble when your gun goes in for servicing.
