I just traded an electric guitar for this beautiful old,1966 built Remington 1100 and a Winchester model 190 22LR. The 22 is nothing special, but after completely tearing down this old 1100 I think its in fine shape, been used very little. It has a 26" skeet barrel on it,and also has a 30" full choke barrel, both with ventilated rib and a nice hard case. This gun was built only three years after the 1100 came out so its kinda classy,I think.Really nice wood, bluing 100%. Soon as the snow goes away Ill be trying it on some sporting clays with the skeet barrel.Heres some pics.

Good snag! I have a few 1100's they are one of my fav semi shotguns.

Dead reliable and built to last!

Cheers

Pick up some spare O-rings just to have. When I shot 1100's I always had one in my wallet. Sitting yours is probally hardened. Also only use the correct ones which are a special material like viton or something like that standard buna n rings from the hardware store will not last.
Enjoy the gun

Where did you get yours?

I have never had one fail on me in 18 years, so I am probably overdue.

I just ordered a pack of Viton #21's O-rings and a new gas piston and seal from my local dealer. The O-ring was kind of hard.

Double-up on the piston & seal, and while you're at it, might as well get a new extractor, spring & plunger. I would add a new recoil spring at the same time. With those bits & pieces of spare plumbing, the 1100's will go for years.

Ah the fine old world craftsmanship of mass produced pressed checkering. I got rid of mine years ago when I finally got fed up with powder being blown in my face...bought brand new and did it from day one, and even after the o rings and piston was changed by authorized Remmy smith. Love their rifles, but as you might be able to tell no lover of that shotty.
