I'm curious as to everyones thoughts on the 2 and how they seem to hate one another from my experiences atleast. My question is whats the big deal. To my knowledge CDP is new and IDPA has been around for awhile. People i've talked to have a problem with CDP courses being charged while IDPA courses are free. However IDPA has yearly fees while CDP does not. Just curious as to what else is there to the story. For me personally, They are just 2 acronyms. I just enjoy going out and doing competitions.

They are really the same game. CDPA started back before IDPA had grown any roots in Canada. There were some problems with the IDPA rules with respect to Canadin Laws (prohibs etc). As such CSSA backed one of its RDs to come up with a program which resulted in CDPA.
Since that time IDPA altered its rule set and IDPA is now flourishing in Canada. Heck EESA my home club is now active in IDPA. I never really saw the logic in CDPA once IDPA was viable.

As to the animosity? Well some people just cannot let go.

From what I have heard, a bunch of people were scammed out of money by one individual hosting CDP courses.

I'm a little vague on details though.

As to animosity...I wasnt aware of any....but I haven't met too many fellas shooting CDP either.

Not true, you had to be a member of CSSA.

CDP started in Canada about a year or so before IDPA in Canada. The current rule book was published in 2005, prior to CDP.
