Steve McQueen's mare's leg had the following mods:
a) half power blanks
b) 45-70 cartridges in his belt (too big to fit in the gun)

I am sure that many who biy a mares lag as a alternative pistol will be disappointed.
Some are interested just because of the fun of playing with it
Put a full butt stock on it and you got a lightweight carbine for work
It is great that these young guys are taking such an interest in these firearms, maybe some will get into cowboy shooting!
anyone criticizing these boys should turn in their firearms and joined the liberal party!

It's possible. But if so, i'll just pretend i bought it as an alternative to a pistol grip shotgun and i'll be happy again :)

Well, I've just confirmed pricing and it's on the good side of $650...They will list for $629 and like everything over $100 they will include free shipping. Also just to keep it out there, that the end of March delivery time is approximate. I was told that Taurus/Rossi had a really good response to the Ranch Hands at Shot show and that may have an affect on our estimated "end of March" delivery (or amount delivered)

cross your fingers...

Foxer you should check out some of those cowboy action shooters.
Do they have them up around the Fraser Valley?
Some of those guys are amazing and best of all they do not use Photoshop.

I've always meant to do that. I really should make the time. It does look like a lot of fun and frankly i prefer wheel guns to semi's anyway :)

I don't know who really does it around here. I should probably look into it.

I just wish they had chopped another inch or two off the barrel to make it look more like the original bounty hunter. I know, then you'd have only 5 rounds instead of six but who cares, for this gun it's all about nostalgia and fun factor.

Im' sure there's an argument to be made for pepper spray and a rifle - use the spray if attacked and that gives you time to pick up your rifle and finish the job. But there's some issues with that as well.

i will not pack pepper spray ..... EVER ....

it is vitually usless , and potentially dangerous for the user when used .

you are better off with a peanut butter sandwich on a stick .

bears are not ninja's in the woods looking to pounce on you , they make their pressence know well before you meet them , assuming you are listening .

Right on brother. When you're solo, something as common as a slip off a deadfall, miles from the nearest chopper pad or trail can mean the end if you have no radio/backup.

Stay safe and keep the noobies away from the back of the chopper, beware going uphill when leaving the machine and downhill when approaching it, keep your eye on that sling load till it's way the he!! gone or down on the deck and detached from the longline and try not to stand in the drill core basket while the longline is attached unless suddenly going for scary trips is something you like to do;).

Oh yeah, and send us a video of newbie hooking up the longline in a rain or snowstorm for the first time. Make sure you get the look on his face! ;) Then teach him how to ground the thing. :D

The top 2 are heavy and I keep them in camp, the lower 3 long guns are lighter and I can sometimes carry them in the field depending on the nature of the work and the terrain. The bottom two I can carry everyday in the field. Easy peasy.

Wow what a nice bolt action Geologist, is it in .375 Ruger? :)

Foxer There must be somebody on this site from the lower mainland that into that cowboy action shooting.
It is a good sport especially for city guys gets you out of the city and shooting lots of rounds.
It is obvious you are drawn to that style of shooting as are all those other cowboy shooters.
Pretty sure that they will be just as interested in your mares lag as you are

There is a huge CAS community at Mission R&G. PM Camp Cook.
