SA stamped Tokarev SVT-40

Since I've personally seen zero of these for sale over the past months, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to speculate what a Finn Captured SA stamped Tokarev SVT-40 would fetch, should one become "availible" on the EE?

I am aware of how much standard refurbs are going for, but I'm unsure what that marvellous little SA stamp on the receiver and mag do for value?

Thanks in advance gun nutz!

hmmm..

I have seen standard svt-40's go from 250 to the more common 300 range.

I think your SA marked svt-40 could fetch more. Also consider the condition of your rifle. I suppose it's gonna be worth what someone is willing to pay! good luck with sale!

John of Marstar sold a couple unrefurbished SVT40s for around $400 I think? I don't recall condition. Is your rifle a refurb? Is it a matching numbers rifle? Is it a Tula, an Izzy or a Kovrov? If it's a refurb, are the parts scrambled between various years/manufacturers? So many factors.

Stamped SA on receiver AND magazine you say? That's interesting.

Oh, and the obligatory:needPics: No really, pictures make this sort of thing so much easier.

It's a 1940 Tula - My understanding (and a very weak one at that) is that the Finns refurbed all of the SVT-40's that they captured. Are there any known numbers matching examples that have popped up?

Said rifle does not appear to have been refurbed, but the trigger group is non matching, although no electropenciling or force matching of any kind is present.

I know that this thread is worthless without pics, but I don't have good enough lighting or camera to do this rifle justice, I'm afraid.

Is your price of $500 due to the fact that that's what John sold his for?

Condition is everything.

Originality. Matching or Non-Matching.

Pics.

Without seeing the whole picture, it's like asking what a 1968 Chevrolet or a 1971 Plymouth is worth. Coud be a little, could be alot depending on a lot of things. (6 cylinder or Convertible 426 Hemi or 427 Rat)

No, thats generally what they sell for.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me. I guess what I feel the rifle is worth would be considerably more due to the fact that I haven't seen another for sale in over 6 months, but in reality the frequency of which something comes up for sale in the EE doesn't make it any more or less valuable IMO. I wish there were more gun shows in the Vancouver area!

I paid 400 for one, but needs a barrel. nice bore but was trimmed by someone. (idiots)
Mismatch, silver bolt, nice stock. SA stamped receiver and mag.
So maybe 500 is a little low, but I cant see too much more.

Lol you should read about the "Dragunov" project over in the Red Rifles Forum. You'd get crucified for calling an SVT bubba an idiot... or maybe without SA markings you are a genius to do whatever you want to an SVT.

Yeah, don't worry about doing the gun "justice" - just let us see some pics :)

They are selling like hot cakes (not SA marked). If you are serious
About selling it - post it for what you want and see if she sells! If not, lower the price until it sells - OR keep it and shoot it!

Cheers!

Ive seen the post. He is supposedly modding it in a way where he can put it back to stock, not now that hes ground the bolt carrier down.......

So my calling Globeco idiots still stands. they poorly butchered clean SA marked SVTS. Anyone in the milsurp forum would agree with me Im sure.
And most of them ended up real ugly and converted to 303!
At least mine was still in 762x54r, Just has a shortened barrel, not that you can tell under the original brake I installed.

Globeco has been out of business for 25 yrs. They were selling stuff at a time when guys didn't have a lot of spare change, and some ammo was simply unavailable. Beautiful rifles that no one was buying wasn't going to keep the light bill paid, so they made a decision to try to make something sellable to shoot available ammunition. Decisions are time-relative.

skirsons nobody "crucified" you in that thread

Most people there (myself included) felt that seeing as you had nothing pleasant helpful or encouraging to say you should have kept silent instead of rudely insulting the result of what I am positive was a lot of hard work.
