Cowboy - under lever SxS shotgun, anybody use?

Anybody use a SxS with the under lever release for CAS? Curious if there are any major drawbacks other than the obvious issue of this not being speedy quick to reload and limited ammo availability (12ga 2.5") due to age.

Haven't seen anybody use one but don't see anything wrong with it. As you say it will be a little slower with the long travel that an under-lever has but who cares if thats what you have fun shooting with. That being said I have noticed you say it's short-chambered, if it is also a damascus barrel I wouldn't use it unless with BP. There is no rule against using a damascus with smokeless shells and I have saw people use them, but I feel it is irresposible and places the t\o and others in danger.

I agree that it's irresponsible to use modern smokeless loads in a damascus barrel, steel looks pretty but it's just not capable of handling the stresses. I've got an antique 12ga reloading set I've been itching to use, so this would give me a good excuse.

I shot a match Sunday where a guy used one. Like previously mentioned it wasn't the quickest to open, and cocking the hammers took even more time but he had a big grin on his face everytime he touched off a barrel.
