I have seen this more than once... an 870 express 3.5" receiver with NO barrel and NO stock selling for 400$ in the EE

i priced that same gun (870 express supermag with wood stock) last fall and i found it for between 349$ and 399$ depending on the store, but thats for the complete shotgun! Why would someone pay 400$ for a stripped down used receiver when they can get the whole gun for that price brand new?

don't get me wrong, this isn't a shot at the seller, since a buyer is supposed to do his own homework... but am I missing something here? :shotgun:

More than likely it is someone who bought the whole gun for the barrel and is now trying to recoup the cost of the whole purchase. I like the ads that have been running for literally months and the seller can't take a hint.

I have been watching them since I need just a 3 1/2" receiver but the ones for 400 I have seen like you describe usually have been special coated or finished which I am told can run 300.00 alone.Others have been fitted with special parts that the black and green group use. A plain 3 1/2 express as factory supplied is usually in the 250 range less wood and stock which I still think is 50.00 too much. Is that what you may be missing

Before you buy anything on EE you need to look up what the gun will cost brand new ... there are lots of guns on EE up for the same price as a brand new gun ... I think they are hoping they will get some idiot that knows nothing about guns to buy their used gun for the same price as a new one.

It took me 3 weeks before I found a shotgun on here that was at a reasonable price, the majority of shotguns I looked at on here was selling for $20 less then a new one.

or maybe they are trying to drive up the price on the used gun market in Canada lol

Just watch the EE everyday .... the good offers are taken almost right away, so check often.

the last one i saw sell in the EE was 400$ for a basic receiver with usage marks on it, no special coatings, no special parts mentioned in the ad... just a plain 870 express receiver, and it was SPF the same day the seller posted. :slap:

i guess some people just assume they are paying less for used gear without checking the price of new stuff... not to mention the fact that if you buy a new gun and have a problem with it, that you can bring it back and they will usually do their best to help if its a good retailer.

It can happen I guess but I find here the boys know their guns and prices that is for sure. Also we have to remember just because he removed the listed and put SPF doesn't really mean it went. I have seen that happen and the gun relisted a week later for less after the seller is told man you are way over priced. There is a camo one listed a few times that I would have bought and contacted the seller a few times that 700 is nuts but he thinks his is special and different than the ones epps sells new for like 589 so he still has it.take care

sold! pm me you're SAL# (string aquisition number) and i'll start the transfer monday. You do have a membership to a fabric shop right?

Dammit.. I was going to offer a cheeseburger in trade for that string. NIB, never bitten either... Guess the string is now SPF? ;)

haha

As for your dilemma re: the EE pricing. I have found this to be the case OVER AND OVER and over (and over).

Too many people thinking that their used item is still worth what they paid for it new, or even used. (like someone buying an 870 for $350 used - when they're 379 used for example - then stating they only want to get back what you paid for it. "only" $350 + ship .... )

Just do what was advised. If you are looking for something, just kick back and wait. Keep a hawk's eye on the EE. I scored quite a few nice deals by just waiting and pouncing on a deal the moment it showed up.

I would have had a nice norc 870 clone with 14" for 100$ shipped, but the guy didn't like me asking questions as to whether it shoots or not (I was suspicious alright? haha). He sold it to another guy within minutes. Darn...I am just too afraid to waste my money on a paper weight.

So that's another piece of advice. Don't get TOO excited over a good deal either. You may be buying crap.

well i haven't heard from the buyer. he said he'd take it, but then i haven't got a reply back again. should i leave him a bad trader rating? :p You throw a few fries and a shake in and you've got yourself a deal!

Good news i figured out how to post pics! here ya go! Picture's worth a thousand words.... Like new!
