What Shotgun did you shoot your FIRST bird with? and do you still have it?

My dads wingmaster sp 12 guage and a green wing, puddled it cause it refused to get up outa the decoys. My first double also green wings with my dads A5 magnum, also the same night I made a triple on ringnecks. I tend to shoot well with the old A5.

Got my first wood duck late last fall, in a gentle rain, using a Remington 870 Express. Duck was awesome, 870 rusted a bit... I keep it near dripping wet with CLP now, and boresnake the bore dry when I take it hunting.

A ruffed grouse with my Cooey break action.410. I saved up for the gun for months and bought it at our local K-Mart. I was 16 and no ID was required. It wasn't even all that long ago (OK 1977). I still have the shotgun but it hasn't been in the woods for decades.

First bird with a shotgun would have been with my Dad's Tobin double. That would have been 50 years ago. First bird ever would have been with a brand spankin' new Cooey 39 that my Dad bought me when I was about 12.

Ruffed Grouse with the old mans winchester 370 single shot 12ga. Yes, it's stil around.

Two guys have mentioned that they still have the gun that they shot their first bird with. I still have my 16 gauge Cooey, too.

I'd be interested, as a secondary question in the thread (assuming the OP doesn't mind), in knowing how many others still have that first gun.

I added it to the thread title.

I do still have my 1300 it's running strong with 8-9 thousand round fired.

Sadly , no, mine was a 'company gun" from when Dad worked for C.I.L., and I do not know where it got to!:(
