Value priced O/U

I'm sure everyone had a laugh with my title on my thread but I am looking for a value priced O/U. I have been looking around for a bit and yea most O/U are minimal 1600 used and go way up to a used car at 5,000 plus. I am just looking for the best value priced gun within reason...these are what I came up with:


IGA BOITO (Brazilian) $599 12guage and $699 for the 12/20 gauge combo

Hatsan ?? $699

Savage Milano (Italy) $1100

They all have their pros and cons but for the money and features I think I am looking to get the Milano. Its kind of in the middle for guns and from what I see after the Milano its a huge jump in pricing. I plan on using this gun for some trap/skeet and for duck and geese hunting. If anyone knows of other O/U in this range please let me know. I am not into the fancy engraving and all that jazz but want something reliable and that won't break the bank. I know you get what you pay for but this is not my main hobby but I just want something in the middle.
 
If you can find a Milano they are apparently good Guns. You might look for a used Browning Citori as well.
 
I'm not sure if the rebate is still on, but I got a new Citori White Lightning from Clay at Prophet River for $1500 taxes and shipping included. I just received my rebate check from Browning yesterday for $150. Hard to beat a White Lightning all in for 1350.
 
What ever you do, pick the one that fits you best. And feels good in your hands. The Citoris are great Guns but I hate their fat high receivers JMHO.

Going back to your OP your looking for one gun that does just about everything. And "fortunately" that's not possible. An O/U is not exactly ideal for Duck or Geese Shooting. Nor is a Skeet Gun your best choice for Trap. You might want to consider a quality Semi Auto like a Beretta or an over priced Benelli they may be more versatile to your needs.
 
We've still got the White Lighning 12's left at 1529 and then the 100 back. The Faustis have sold well but we've still got one beautiful 16 left and one 20. Others went out almost as fast as we got them in. Trying to secure a few more....

I couldn't find any info on the "16 Fausti" on your Website do you have a link?

I would pick an O/U with choke tubes over a Semi any day for 98% of all shotgunning.

Also I would say a O/U is a pretty good waterfowl gun, a choice of two chokes is an excellent idea for waterfowl also you aren't slinging empties into your partners head like with a semi. Upland hunters are better served by O/U's because the again have two choke options and can crack the gun quickly if crossing fences or if the like to be extra careful around dogs.

With changeable choke tubes you can turn an O/U into a good choice for the clay games. You again have two chokes for trap.

The problem with O/U's is the price you need to pay to get a decent one. I suggest shopping around I scored an older lightly used Franchi Skeet for 325$ shipped on our own EE.

Sorry, I don't know if they have been photographed yet. I know we have an extractor 20g left ay 899 and a 'real gold' 16 with gold inlays at 1299. They just came in a few days ago and have sold so quickly hey may not get listed. I'm going in the shop on Sunday and may be able to get a few pics and details...
 
An O/U as a waterfowl gun is a fail. Especially with ground blinds. Unless you like hauling dirt and hay out of your barrels. Due to the extended opening of an O/U. For that type of work a sxs would be even better. But not as good as a Semi with that extra shot.
