Im looking to get into reloading 9mm but I have read that its not even worth it? since you save a couple of dollars but the time you put into it, isn't worth it.

I can buy (like most ppl) 500 rounds of AE 115/124g, good to go for $150.00. Which comes out to $15ish a box

How much do you pay for lets say 50 rounds of reloaded 9mm?
 
7.50 per box of 50 with Zero FMJ-c
5.50 per box of 50 with DRG lead

Brass is extra and cheap last for many loads..Not really even a factor...

This has been beat to death on here, try the search function...:)

The real benefits are custom ammo for your guns of all calibers after you start with pistol and move onto rifle the savings get even bigger and even more so on larger pistol calibers...
 
It'll depend mostly on choice of components and volume you get them in.
$7 a box of 50rds is about right for ammo loaded with plated bullets.
 
My component cost is approximately $130/1000 or $6.50/50 plus GST using Cactus Plains 124 grain cast bullets. Brass is not included in this price because case life is indefinite and I can make up for lost cases through range pickups.

If you have a progressive press that is suitable for your needs, reloading isn't unreasonably time consuming. Once I have my powder measure adjusted and primer magazine filled, I can load 100 rounds in about 10-12 minutes with my Dillon 550.
 
roughly half the cost. Is it worth it? that depends on if you enjoy reloading or not and how much you value your time.

If you do not value your time at all it would take 5000 rounds before you would save anything as you have to pay for your reloading equipment.

Many that do reload do it as another hobby.

Personally I enjoy it, but not enough to load ammo for anyone else.

My prices above are the last I paid, taxes included, and the cost of the powder adjusted to the amount used for 1000.
 
Wow! Ya I been looking at reloading equipment and its pretty good on prices. Saw a Dillon 900 or something that for $500ish but from what I hear its a great brand and almost does everything you need.

Even if it costs me 10$a box. Alot of savings down the road considering in the summer ill fire a good 300-400 rounds a month.

I was already reloading so the equipment wasn't really a factor. The other thing is supply can sometimes be sporadic for factory rounds so getting the same brand consistantly can occasionally be an issue especially 45acp (there is a downside to the cheap Norinco's is that 45 is enjoying a major comeback in popularity). Also I find my reloads are noticably more accurate. I did find point of aim changed sometimes quite a bit between differant brands of factory ammo
 
Cast my own 125gr RN tumble lube bullets in my spare time.
4.1 grns of win 231 powder, range brass, win primer. 3 years ago I bought 60000 primers. Wish I would of bought lots of powder at the same time!!
$2.90 a box of 50 9mm.

Hit the nail on the head with that. noticed a huge change in point of aim between ammo and loading you can tailor it to your gun i am getting similar prices as well using same bullets. and if you ever start shooting alot of 45 you almost have to reload to afford it i'll be shooting close to 1500 rounds a month this summer between 45 and 9 mm and there is no way i could afford it without reloading keep in mind too that equipment is almost a non factor as good equipment lasts pretty much forever if taken care of and doesn't loose value very much as alot of current used equipment is selling for almost new prices
 
To let you all in on a little secret - Berry's recently came up with a new 124gr HBRN (hollow bottom round nose) bullet that is a little longer than their regular 124gr RN bullet and offers better accuracy due to longer bearing area (a.k.a. shoulder), the pic was 'stolen' from another forum:

Shape of the nose should make every reloader happy, even those who shoot CZ guns, you know what I mean ;) Clue - OAL...

The bullet is not on Berry's site yet but was made available to some customers and proved to be superior to Berry's already excellent regular 124gr RN bullet ;)

I can HARDLY WAIT till Custom Ammo brings them in and I can get my hands on them :D
 
Problem is that it looks like Berrys are on the never never wishlist. They were supposed to get an order in January, then February then March, now April. Do we see a pattern there. Berrys is selling all they can make stateside. Everyone up here is getting backordered
