Hey folks,

I'm picking up a .308 in a couple of weeks and I`m thinking about getting into reloading. The last time I had a .308 I was eating beans for awhile ...

Anyways, I know nothing about it but I don`t need top notch equipment, just stuff that works. I was looking at this: http://leeprecision.com/xcart/LEE-LOADER-308-WIN.html but it looks almost too good to be true.

Can anyone give me any input and maybe point me in the right direction?

I have a .308 Lee Loader and it works great for my bolt actions. It only neck sizes rounds, and after a few loadings you may need to full length size them with a normal die and press to get them to work. Ammo fired from the same gun should work ok, but ammo fired in another rifle first may not until FL sized.

Some people will tell you that you need $1000 worth of match reloading equipment to make accurate and safe ammo, but this is not true. The Lee Loader can and does work just fine for most peoples uses and for $22-30 they are a steal.

Cool :) That's exactly what I wanted to hear.

So how much does it cost to make say 100 rounds of decent 175 gr. .308's?
Compared to Factory
 
100 Large rifle primers $5
1lb of say Varget powder $35 (yes some places are cheaper)
100 .308 Bullets $35-45
Your used 308 brass free

I would add that it is very handy to have something to measure the powder with other than the scoop included in the loader. A scale would be best but the Lee Powder measure set of all the scoops works well too for $10. Varget works with the 3.1cc scoop included in the .308 kit for a variety of bullets. But a scale allows you to measure out different amounts. A manual like the Lee is the next addition you will want.

Wow that is a huge savings! Can one buy new brass as well?
