Factory cz sp-01 shadow ok for idpa

Hello, I'm trying to find out if a Factory CZ Sp-01 Shadow meets guidelines for for IDPA without having to do any mods? I was able to print off a huge list of approved hanguns for IPSC, but can't quite get something similar for IDPA. I'm new to shooting sports, I have shot this handgun a few times, and I like the way it feels... Considering the purchase. Also what mods can any experienced shooter out there suggest? Some had said some trigger work, others have said it's perfect straight out of the box. Your input is really helpful!

It doesn't meet the weight requirements in it's standard form.

Replacing the grips with some light weight ones, and some very minor mods make it work though I believe. This is just from what I hear.

And this is a quote from our very own Canuck 44(member here) about what needs to be done.

Forget the Aluminum grips they are to heavy. Replace the metal plate that protects the mainspring with an aluminum version intended for the 75B and thin it down and you will make weight with the Marshall grips and 10 rd mags. Mine did and now weighs exactly 39 oz.

Ok so it must be 39 oz. So nothing major, just grips and aluminium Plate that protects the main spring. Thats pretty striaght forward,

If someone can confirm - I've been told the Shadows are alright in ESP, but not in SSP, with the other problem being that you'd get you arse handed to you if you used a Shadow in ESP category.

The Shadow is fine in SSP.

Since it has a full length dust cover, it needs to meet the SSP requirements (read: weight) to shoot it ESP.

Marschal grips and drilled out mag bases were all I needed to make weight.
 
There is CZ 75 Shadow now, as opposed to SP-01 Shadow - demand it at your local store!!! It'll be approved for IDPA and IPSC in very little time (April from what I hear).
It does make IDPA SSP weight as it uses CZ75SA style frame, and it's made in USA.
No FPB either.
 
That's good news...I was looking at a Polymer Pistol for IDPA (if I got more involved), but this is a great idea!

IF your Shadow makes weight for SSP (39.0 Oz) it's a fine ESP gun... While there are better SAO guns (STI Eagle in 9mm for example), the SAO mode on the Shadow is excellent unless you are really top-tier.

I've never shot ESP in a match, but I shot one ESP Classifier with my Shadow in SAO mode just for kicks - scored 105 and change.

You are referring to the Shadow T. I think HQ maybe enquiring about production numbers. They have to produce a minimum of2,000 units before the gun is SSP legal. I know what it says on the CZ Custom website. I'll be talking to Robert Ray next week and will advise here the outcome of our conversation.

For readers the Shadow T is not the Shadow we love and know but a Shadow without a full length dustcover. Think a CZ85 Combat only with the newer frame with the upswelled beavertail.

For those trying to make weight with their Shadow remember all 10 rd mags don't weigh the same. If your gun is just over weight try another 10 rd mag. I have a couple of 10 rounders that are marked with an "H". I use them when I shoot club IPSC matches with the Shadow.
