OMG noob question i should know better, SKS question

Which versions of the SKS are chrome lined?
I have seen it a million times and like a noob i never paid attention, untill i want to get one. lol

Any help would be great.

All the Chinese and any Russian '51 & older IIRC. Not that the dates on the dust cover necessarily mean anything. Yugos never did.

But does it being chrome line affect anything, especially if you maintain the rifle properly?

The useful life of the barrel will be greatly extended by being chrome plated which was the whole point originally.

It depends what you're expecting out of your rifle I guess. I've owned early and late Russians with chrome lined barrels and not. Shooting surplus, I didn't notice any accuracy differences. You still have to clean the rest of the rifle as none of the other parts are chromed.

LOL fair enough. But going back to my earlier comment about dustcover dates....

Look for features like how the receiver is milled and the shape of the gas block.
