So when you buy a used gun that shoots a corossive ammo caliber like the ever popular 7.62x39 make sure you ask for multiple detailed pics including ones with the bolt out. Here is what you may buy, this was not me and I will not name names of the buyer and seller as this is an on going issue. The buyer does not know SKS's or semi autos so when he saw the corossion he gave me the gun to look over as he did not want to shoot it. Here are the pics...

Well the trigger would not pull, I played with the assembly to get it free'd up but it was very stiff. I am soaking it in Rust Check to try to loosen it up. The barrel pic i have does not show real well but the barrel is lightly pitted front end to back but it is shiny like it has been bore brushed agressively. The gas piston finally came out but I have to use a brass drift and the tube is seriously corroded where the piston was stuck in place. This thing in my opinion is a very rough gun that is unsafe to fire with the gas system being siezed up and the firing pin is sticking so a slam fire was a very real possibility.
 
The picture was of the other side where there is really no rust, the bore is lightly pitted and shootable but I would not want to call it decent. The gun was to need some work but this is what I would call a basket case. If it was not an SKS-D it would not be worth $50.00 in my opinion. It did not get top dollar by any means but there was no full disclosure.
 
that looks like surface fur

I would bet money that with some time in a bead blaster followed by a soak in penetrating oil that sks would run just fine

LMAO!!!!! Guaranteed big guy!!!!!!!! Sorry but the gas piston and tube are toast, the corosson on the bolt and firing pin are a big issue as well. The blt has been cleaned agressively but the dark staining is proof of long term exposure. Sorry but to pay a decent sum and then have to put a lot of work into a gun that was supposed to be safe to fire??? Sorry but I would never shoot anything even remotely loking like this. Anyhoo this post is meant to forewarn people that too many pics and too many questions just simpley cannot be asked when making a deal on a used firearm. Lesson for everyone to learn from, that is the point of this post.
 
There is no way I would have accepted that.

I mean, selling a misrepresented gun in that state is just a low move.

Sorry to hear your friend got screwed. And if the seller reads this; well, you know what kind of dishonest person you are selling that to a fellow gunnut. Hope you have your EE privileges revoked, or you refund the buyer.
