M14 Mounts???

Name off all the types of M14 mounts available in CANADA? I had an ARMS # 18 on my Springfield but couldn't figure out how to shim and adjust to get my scope dialed in ... it kept hitting 6-8 inches high even when it was dialed all the way down. I would like to try the OLD STYLE # 18 but nobody has one for sale so I'm wondering what is a good SOLID mount that works and keeps itself lined up and tight after tons of rounds? Please help,

I currently run an ARMS#18 on my Springfield and think they are the best so I'm sorry to hear of the issues you were having. Now I am probably going to get dumped on here but I had good results from a Sadlak Aluminum and also ( I can already feel the flame ) from the Springfield Armoury 3rd Generation mount - follow instructions to the letter and use loctite. Neither of my Sadlak or SA shifted zero at all on two separate Norcs I had. It is said that the SA when set to one rifle cannot be used on another but this was not my experience.

maybe its the scope not the mount, I have promag which is a copy of the arms18, and the first scope i had on it would shoot way to the right, nothing worked, i then tried and new scope and its all ok, no need to shim or do anything else.

I also got a bore sigher which saved my sanity & money.

My wife smashed my rifle and I had the same issue but I got the new scope I wanted!

So it was the scope I bet the wife knocked it and did not tell you! The promag mount rocks and for the price it is the best out there

Yep it was the scope, and your probably right about the wife knocking it about, she hates it, and when my bolt broke she said "see its a sign, stop this hobby", im waiting for the xcr-m come out and i will make sure she sees the price tag

Thanks tomochan, I ran a leupold 3-9x40 on it without problems ... put that on another rifle and tried running a leupold 1-5x25 but couldn't get it dialed in ... shimmed the front of the mount like others told me but still hit 6 inches high when dialed all the way down. It's not the scope as I put that on my SigArms 223 and it works fine. :( :( :(

p.s. I'm not sure but maybe it got bumped around in my qamutiq box even though I always had it in a carry case. :?

are you sure that the mount is properly mounted it is easy to mess this part up Start by bore sighting it before you go to the range if you don't your just wasting your time and don't use your scope elevation when bore sighting you will just have to shim more so you have adjustment at the range another option is adjustable rings

Hay I used a UTG worked great!
