Hi,
I am not new at shooting sports. Have been shooting since 2000. Extremely exhausted and frustrated by the Canadian Firearms Office. Applied for a RPAL/PAL more than 3 months ago, still waiting. Hope things will start to move soon. Have been shooting IDPA and would love to patch up with some shooters following the same dicipline.

I think the CFC does it on purpose just to pi$$ us off.

Call them up and politely ask what's up.

I called after 4 months and my license was approved and in the mail not even 24 hours later.

Welcome to CGN! I'm from Ottawa as well. Definetely call them. I just completed my pal and rpal courses on January 29th. According to the CFO site my license had been issued and I should have it within 2 weeks. It took 6 weeks in total. 4 months is crazy!! Where are you shooting out of?

I have Applied for membership at NCRRA, off Carling Avenue. Have not shot in a while. Will start as soon as my freakin license is approved. They shoot IDPA here at NCRRA. Where do u shoot.

I'm new to the sport. I have been shooting ISSF or Bullseye so far. I'm not familiar with IDPA but would like to check it out. I'm about 5 minutes away from Connaught. May be I could meet you down there one day to check it out.

Welcome to CGN from a fellow Ottawa area gunnut.

Happy shooting, and by the way you will never be pleased with the CFC so don't get your hopes up. The CFC moves slowly but it is faster than the Ontario CFO. We learn to live with this as long as McGuinty is at the helm.

I have been observing the posts on Canadian Gun Nutz about PAL times. What I have noticed is that all other provinces have a shorter processing time at the provincial level as compared to Ontario.
I fail to understand why CFO-Ontario needs so much more time to approve applications when other provinces are processing the same applications in a shorter period of time. If its the trafic, then is CFO-Ontario's office under staff, or is it that they are just plain slow.
On several occasions I have heard this message on their phone " closed due to inclement weather". Why is it rest of the nation working while they take off due to inclement weather. I dont recall anyone who got off due to inclement weather, unless it was real extreme.
Why is it that there is no one to push these guys to work in order and exhibit productivity in a timely manner.
Why is it that they cannot respect the feelings of an applicant when he goes through that phase of deperation and frustration till the card arrives in his mail box.

My application was mailed on 10th of Dec, 2010, Interviews conducted in the first week of January and my file was transferred to CFO-Ontario on 6th of January. I am about to touch my 90 day mark.

What is it that they can possibly be doing with my application for so long.
If they have any concerns, why dont they contact me. Who can explain myself better than me.

I am extremely frustrated and exhausted with the system they have in place.

Hope someone pays some attention to this department of Ontario Governement soon.

I have applied for a membership at NCRRA, hope things go fast and I get my LTATT soon. I am cosidering a kimber warrior desert. Any suggestions or reviews on kimber.
