Wrong bullet in package

Had this happen with Remington 185g 8mm bullets. Found a 44 pistol bullet in one bag.
Also the other day I bought a box of 139g Hornady Interlock Boat Tails and found the box actually contained flat base bullets. I had better weigh them and check diameter to be sure they are even the right weight and size.

Back in the day when ammo was set out so you could actually handle it there were a lot of people opening the boxes to look at and handle the round.
The larger/rarer calibers were handled more often than the more common ones and I'm sure people were comparing cartridges side by side and mixing them up. I remember getting burned back in the '80's when a box of .300 Weatherby mag was around $100, I got home with my box of ammo and two rounds had been taken from the middle. I started to double check and found several boxes of the bigger magnums ( .375, .416 etc,etc ) were also missing rounds and brought it to the attention of the store owner. I remember he said to me in a pained sort of way, " what can I do?, lock all the ammo up?"--- Ahhhhhh, the good ole days!

Probably been posted before, but, I bought a brick of Remington .22 after joining the club and had several misfires in a few stages. One or two per 5 round mag. Someone else found this at the club and contacted Remington. As they are in the U.S. they couldn't take the ammo back, they explained a problem with primers in a batch and sent him a partial refund cheque.
I didn't bother. I figure I'll pick up a .22 rifle someday and use it up plinking. (I'm thinking that the rifle might hit the rimfire primer a bit harder than the pistol.)

It's happened a lot more than that for me, and I've only got 3.5 years in. Speer Bullets, had some 40 gold dots in my 45 gold dot box. One other brand, had some 185gr in a box of 230gr. Don't even get me started on the list of things I've found in bulk hard cast bullet containers. I just set them aside, and go on with my life, figuring, I'll eventually have that calibre, if I don't already.

You know, I don't really know what's worse, 99 bullets or 101 bullets. I mean, if you get 99 bullets there's not a lot to be done, you're simply short one. But 101 bullets is a different story altogether. What do you do with that extra bullet? You've prepped 100pcs (or 2 x 50pcs). You've got a package of 100 primers. There are 100 spots in your loading block and your ammo boxes are either 50 or 100.
Common sense says to just throw it in the trash. Chances are you will always have exactly 100 bullets in every box of the same bullets that you will buy for the rest of your life. Are you just going to leave it in the box? Set it on the shelf like a trophy? Just what do you do with it?
So yeah, the trash. 'Cept that's a lot harder than it sounds. Go ahead, try it.
Likely you will end up buying another box of the exact same bullet thinking that eventually you will hit a box of 99. If the manufacturers were smart, there would be a lot more boxes of 101......

i have been reloading for 24 years last month was the first time i had it happen,picket up some berger 90g vld in 22 cal.opened the box to find 90g 6mm bullets.called berger they say they are going to send me another box and a hat and tshirt.have not got nothing yet
