And I cant even keep it!

A friend of mine gave me a rabbit(unkown make) to refinish and re blue, He said he was going to refinish the stock for it so I didnt get the whole rifle, Just barrel bolt and trigger gaurd.

So i just finished blueing it about an hour ago and wanted to shoot it, I noticed it was pretty much identical to a cooey except a shorter barrel and different bolt.

So I went downstairs took the barrel of my Model 75 and slapped the rabbit in the stock and fell in love! I dont want to give it back!

Just thought I would share ;)

They date to the 20s, as near as I can tell. I have the later, "round bolt knob" model. Its been in my family for 4 generations, as far as I know, possibly longer.

It looks great, what did yo use to blue it?

So you are the guy who can use .22 shotshells ! :D
I've got a little Stevens .22 shotgun. Smoothbore, bead sight. Had a heck of a time registering it, too. CFC were hell-bent on calling it a .22 rifle. I argued it's a .22 shotgun. They won, I lost, even though it's smoothbore, bead front sight. Oh well, what do I know?

...never heard of a cooey rabbit before
Actually your Ace is quite a bit different when you put them side by side. I have an Eatonia/Ace boys rifle and it has some shape/contour to the stock. The rabbit just looks like someone took a flat board and rounded the edges a bit to call it a stock. But that's the way they were made. Both it and the Eatonia , and my Canuck Jr. , are very small boys rifles.
And yes Papaclaude, mine is also registered as a .22 calibre rifle.
