Semi-Auto pissing off other shooters

IIRC in the old days trap models of the 1100 had a little nubby on the ejection port that deflected the ejected hull downward asnd not toward the next shooter.

Did not know that. Probally why I don't remember being hit very often but there were lots of shells flying around. Here however only a few had true trap 1100's most were using those 1100 2 barrel sets that rem sold a few million of. The ones with the skeet and 30" full choke barrel.

Most competent gunsmiths can weld a deflector nub onto the barrel extension. You can also drill 2 holes in the barrel extension and fit it with a wire shell catcher.

As mentioned previously, at competitive registered shoots, bouncing shells off your neighbour may not be welcome. Many competitors are shooting guns worth many thousands of dollars and may take a dim view of empty shells bouncing off their guns.

Here is a link to a new one that just came onto the market, which will catch doubles.http://multicatch.com/

At first glance the multicatch looks really good, but they really are not all that positive when asked about its use in competition.

FAQ
Can the MultiCatch be used in competition?
Due to variations in the gun manufacturing process, no two shotguns are identical. Whether the MultiCatch works well enough for competition is a decision each shooter should make after using the MultiCatch on his or her particular gun.

tape a plastic bag to the side of your gun or give them one of these...

Get a shell catcher.

Imagine the reaction you are going to get the first time you bounce a hull and ding the receiver of some poser's $30,000 Perazzi :p

If you watch the video on their web site it appears to work flawlessly. I've never used them nor seen them operate. As I indicated they are new on the market, so time will tell. If I shot a semi, I would certainly try one out. I hate leaving a mess on the ground and really dislike picking hulls up off the ground.

Ya, that video was impressive. I will probably give one a try when they become available.

Just ordered the one from T&S. Thanks for all the input guys this was super helpful.

By the way one thing in this post disturbs me and its come up a few times. The thought of paying extra attention to other shooters because they have a super expensive gun seems ridiculous to me. Honestly if some guy has a 30K gun and is worried about a ding from a shell then, really that is the least of his mental worries.

It doesn't matter what gun the other shooter is using. Don't hit other shooters or their guns with your ejected hulls. Do it to me and I'll help you solve the problem by lending you a shell catcher if I have one that fits or show you how a couple of rubber bands can solve the problem.

But if someone is a complete #### about it I will entertain them by ejecting my hulls directly into their face just as they are about to pull the trigger or f**k them up in other creative and thoughtful ways. :)

To quote the Church Lady ... "Well, isn't that special"

just stand on the right side or ask if they want to change spots.. if it goes to the right simply changeing were you both are standing works..

and if they say no then well at least you tried..

As I said earlier I think only a #### would say anything about the odd hull flying around but when it is said and done it is in every set of trap rules I have read.

All guns used by contestants must be equipped, fitted and utilized
so as not to eject empty shells in a manner that substantially disturbs
or interferes with other contestants.

The #### is the fellow that shows up without some system to control the flight path of his hulls.

This #### uses a shell catcher when shooting singles on his semi but for the hell of me just cannot keep those hulls from flying when shooting doubles.
Not sure what to bring for that which is the odd hull noted.?? Real glad I shoot where I do since it is a non issue here in singles and doubles.

When I shoot singles I have my shell catcher in place. When I shoot doubles the shells fly. I find that the best doubles shooters are the most tolerant. They are so focused on their own game, that the flying shells do not seem to bother them.

The "####" is the one that whines and #####es about shells falling near his feet. If that sort of thing gets you off your game you are not concentrating. Or you are looking for an excuse to justify your poor scores.

Yes sir win/64 and 9 times out of ten they are the dude with the $30,000 perazzi and toss their AAhs hulls in the trash cans.
All I know I have taken more squads off their game when you take an old 28ga wingmaster to the line than I ever have with a flying hull from a semi 12ga especially if I happen to run them or close to it.:D
The best trap shooter we ever had here always said get in their head and they are 1/2 beat before they shoot.Yes win/64 he also shot your favorite the X1
So thanks boys for the round when you are going to shoot some 27 let me know please I will be over on the skeet field. I have to put the full choke barrel on the squirrel gun for that this skeet barrel is only for 16.:D( really a skeet with a mod tube)
