*Updated in post #31* Winchester Model 70 or Browning X-Bolt?

The two windage adjustable screws self adjust adjust...Without warning.

The screws also have a tiny cup milled into them that accepts a tiny bump of metal that is destined to failure....I can't believe your gun store sold them to you when you obviously have the funds for a quality scope mount?

Interesting, I've got basically the same setup on my Featherweight(except 2 piece bases)that's been shot plenty in the last 15+ years, and always had consistent groups, guess I'm lucky :D

That's undesirable... But as I said... I got the rings and bases for free.

So what rings/mounts should I get then? I was under the impression that Leupold and Burris made decent quality mounts/rings.

Should I have gone for something like a dual dovetail two piece mount?

Personally I like the Talley Lightweight one piece base/ring. I use them on all my rifles. They are strong and lightweight.

You'll be fine as long as they were installed properly. I've used dozens of versions of these mounts and rings and had no issues, and on some rifles with a lot more recoil then a relatively heavy 30-06. - dan

talley scope rings dotcom will ship to Canada

I had them on a rem 700 and also for my X-Bolt White Gold but I switched the ones off the X-Bolt and went with the DNZ 1 piece instead, I'll post pics tonight.

Here are some Pics of the Talley 1 Piece on my X-Bolt. Sorry about the Picture Quality.
I will post pics of the DNZ 1 Piece later. On a nice gun like yours I'd spend a bit more and get the 1 piece DNZ.

I hope that scope bell isn't resting on the barrel?

It's not but I could only get 2 sheets of paper through for clearance, a little too close for my liking. When I switched from these Talley Medium Rings I went with the DNZ 1 piece high's and although I like the talley's I easily would say the DNZ are a better product. I now have more clearance as well (pics to follow)
