I am looking for a few opinions on what route to go with my Famae Saf. I sold it roughly a year ago and during freight with DHL the forward hand guard was smashed into about 30 different pieces. It was packaged very securely but never underestimate the damage that can be caused by obvious inattention to fragile stickers. Even though they offered to replace the handguard it is impossible as there are no parts available. I gave the buyer his money back and I have tried everything i can think of to find a replacement grip but to no avail. I have decided to have something made out of billet etc. The obvious problem being that billet will be awful chilly on the fingers in the winter and not having anything to make measurements from. I am debating to either have a railed forend made or even going the route of having it converted to look like the suppressor version. Any other thoughts or ideas? I really would like to get this back together. Here are a couple pics of before the accident.

Is there no way to make HK furniture work - I'm thinking along the lines of the SP89 fore end. Oh yes, and have you tried the country of origin for parts, and or the manufacturer - explain that you already have one of their "fine products" and just need a spare fore end. (include a copy of your reggie and offer a copy of your PAL if necessary)
 
Phone calls and e-mails have been ignored from both myself and contributing dealers to date. Found a place in Portugal ( who's armed forces also use this firearm) and it was the same thing. Definitely frustrating, hence the reasoning for perhaps going the custom route.

I was told FAMAE never intended to let any of these out to the civilian market. Perhaps that is why you are getting the cold shoulder treatment.
Have you ever tried to contact any Brazilian dealers instead? I have seen footage of favela guys with FAMAEs, so I assume there must be a open/grey market supply available.

Does the Taurus CT30 or MT40 furniture work on a SAF?

Is there nothing from Swiss arms that will fit? Isnt the Famae originally a sort of contract gun?
 
Get a custom aluminum handguard machined with standard 1913 "Picatinny" slots cut in it and you can simply install any number of aftermarket covers from companies like Tango Down, Troy, Magpul. They're usually made of plastic or rubber, so warmer to the hands and you now have the option of adding a vertical fore grip to the firearm.

BTW, only seeing 'Red X' where the photos should be.
 
Might be easiest to go the custom route. If you're going to do that, I'd have them make a railed front hand guard... it would definitely be one of a kind. :)

Maybe see if NEA is up to the task?

The Swiss cqb grip looks similar to the one on my Famae .40 but unfortunately i have not found anything to fit the 9mm.

The railed handguard has been the best option to date as X-man stated. I could just add aftermarket covers to give it a rubber coating and a little more winter friendly.

AR180shooter, i hate to bug board members with this kind of thing as they have their own lives on the go.

I sent an inquiry into them as well to see if they can be of help. The MT40 looks pretty similar to my .40 Famae but uses a completely different handgrip to my 9mm. If i find anything out i will let you know.
 
Well folks, due to the fine people over at Wolverine Supplies, my problem has been solved! It turns out that after talking to Danielle, she informed me that John had some spare parts kicking around for the Famae still. I sent John an e-mail and lo and behold if in the picture of what he had left for the Famae didn't include a forearm. On top of everything else i managed to score a mildly damaged spare mag as well. A little work and it should be good as new. I can't thank the staff at Wolverine enough for all the quality service i have been given over the years. Truly a quality bunch to deal with and my hat goes off to them!
