I made a down payment on this little trailer this afternoon. It is a 2008, hardly ever used. Just right for a couple of crusty ol' Saskatchewan boys to hole up in when gopher shootin' is done for the day. I had no trouble passing this in "parliament", as she thinks we will be using it for "camping". I also bought five cases of 7.62x39. Oh yeah, I bought a loaf of bread today, too.:p

good job kjohn now you'll be able to park in my fields and shoot gophers from your doorstep while your morning coffee is brewing, although its going to be a few days after another foot of snow on tuesday.

looks comfy.. Ive never stayed in it, but they are happy..... other than the roof leaking and causing a mini lake inside over the winter thaw last year... make sure the bathroom vent isnt leaking

was covered under warranty, and only took a month
 
Nice camper but i`m not sure winter is leaving. Yesterday i saw gophers packing up and heading for Arizona, guess they don`t like the -20 spring temps.
 
I long for the day I can haul my camper out again. Until then, it hibernates in my driveway. I thought I might save a few bucks and considered winterizing myself, but I'm glad I didn't. Been a long cold winter, and it nice to know that any broken pipes that occur are covered.
 
Yeah, I can't wait until gopher "season" comes around. It's going to be a busy year for me. I still work part/full/whatever time at my old job as a simakanis, part time working for a big, big farmer, plus I am on call at Gopherxs' place to repel any overwhelming gopher attacks.

I look forward to having my own little trailer to stay in. It certainly doesn't add up $ wise to buy a trailer instead of staying at a motel, but the convenience, the adventure, and the mobility make it worthwhile. New trailers have all the modern gizmos and are very easy to pull. I have a 3000W continuous Champion generator, plus a 900W converter for my old Suburban, plus it has two batteries, so I'll likely be able to struggle along out in the wilds.:p

So many years I wanted to go out west and shoot gophers, but didn't start until 2006. You can't believe the damage those cute little animals do to the land. My plan is to "relocate" gophers every year until I am too old and feeble to lift my head!:D
 
I have beefed my arsenal as well. My main gopher defense gun is a stock stainless/wood 10/22 with a nice Bushnell scope.

As backup, I have my choice of a Savage 6AB, 3 Springfield 87A's, a Stevens 85, two Remington 58 12 ga., a Winchester Model 50 12 ga., a Mossberg .22 WMR, new Rossi .357 lever, and a new Rossi .223 single shot.

Being a fair-minded, honorable man, I like to fire plenty of "warning" shots, so the .22's get most of the action. When the stars aren't lining up the way they should, I get out a shotgun. No warning shots there!!:p

Gopherxs' land is going to test pretty high for lead content! There are fewer things better for the soul than to spend a day shooting gophers on the good old Saskatchewan prairie. Plus, you get to spite liebrals and other ninnies who don't like evil guns. Guns...eewwww!:p
 
Congratulations on the trailer.
The freedom to stay where you want just can't be over-emphasized.
We have had ours through at least sixteen states, including at least eight times to Arizona and southern California. Once we went from Arizona to Nashville, Ten., and went to the Grand Ole Opry, spending a month in Texas on the way there.
We have also been to trails end in Alaska and the backroads of northern BC and the Yukon, as well as all over the prairies.
So don't rule out those camping trips, remember, wives know best.
And if you don't like all that snow, how about Christmas on the Arizona desert?

Yeah.... As I get older, my idea of a winter well spent is getting to be something like living at the edge of a desert, with the only snow to be seen is on a calender!!:p
 
My dog got a gopher before I did this year. She chased the thing which tried to run to one of its other holes, only to find it frozen over. Dog shook the #### out of it and then dropped it hoping it would run again so she could have another fun chase.
 
They're rocks. Someone who had camped there before us had outlined a little area, for various reasons, with rocks.
If you put out feed it can bring in flocks of mourning doves, so maybe could catch supper!
This was one of the Fed. gov. BLM camping areas. It used to be $50 and you could stay for six months. That included four camping areas in Arizona and three in California, where you could switch around to any of them for the one fee. That was my first quad I had, you will notice it parked. We could travel with the quad right from there to some mountains about ten miles away, through the mountains on some kind of trail for about eight miles, then home by a different route. A total run of 45 KMs, right from our trailer.
Arizona is a tremendous place for camping and quading. You can camp for free on any government land, which is about 85% of Arizona, for two weeks. Move 25 miles and camp for another 2 weeks, then again---. Oodles of old trails, old mines and any number of dry washes to quad on.
 
Yee haw!! Towed my little trailer home from Yorkton today. I backed it in the driveway at home, but can't do much, as I have to be at work in Estevan at 6:00 pm tomorrow nite. My wife had to leave this afternoon to head back up to where she works, as there is trouble there.

Pretty nifty little rig. I got the furnace going, figured out the stove, lights, etc. Tomorrow, if I get time, I am going to see if my Champion 4000/3000 generator will start the air conditioner. Hopefully it will. The conditioner is 13,500 BTU and the generator is 4000 startup.
