Hello,

I have a very small budget for a used bolt action .22 LR. I have searched forums for information on the accuracy of the Lakefield Mark 1, but have come up short.

Please do not post suggestions involving other manufacturers. Enough with the preamble, here's my question:

Lakefield Mark 1 or Cooey (unsure of model)? They both seem to be in the same price range...

Thanks in advance.

The Cooey and Lakefield were made by the same manufacturing firm. Cooey sold to Winchester ( Olin) and resold to Lakefield -Mossberg , now Savage. I have the Lakefield Mark I single shot, a mark II repeater, and a Mark III semi. All have proven to be very accurate gopher rifles as well as can hold thier own in a target shoot. I do not see you being disappointed in your purchase of this gun.

Yup, Lakefields are just as accurate as the new Savages if you could improve the Lakefield's trigger to the same pull as the Accutrigger.

Had a Lakefield 91TR that shot awesome with its stock trigger but sold it because it was too heavy and my Savage MKIIF was just as accurate at about 2 lbs lighter.

Yep, if you have a choice, pic which ever one is in better condition cause they are both pretty much equal. If the Cooey model is before Winchester or shortly after they took over, it will have a walnut stock. The Lakefield is probably hardwood---if that is of any significance to you.
