Ok. Prices are ranging from 150 - 300 dollars for sks's.

Can someone who knows the sks market give me a run down of WHAT the rifles should cost, and what years / make - make them desireable?

Refurbed shooters are the lower end, especially black bolts. Non-refurbed all number matching collector pieces bring $250 plus, depending on manufacturer and type of stock. Now this is for Russians. Style of pinning will also influence price.

or an unissued Chinese from Marstar for 189. Refurbs or otherwise, they all shoot good. The Russians are prettier but some people just want a shooter to get full of mud on the front of the quad.

It's all cosmetic. If you have the ability to pick out your own rifle you will not be disappointed. You do not have to pay inflated prices for so called hand picked rifles................

Weimajack is a great guy to deal with. Bought a 1928 Mosin Nagant off him a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier. His SKS selection looks great too. He operates out of QC, so if you're in a neighboring province shipping should be really cheap

I just picked up a 51 refurb with what appears to be a laminated stock for 175 from another cgn'r and it is in fabulous shape as far as i am concerned i also owned a chinese that i bought new for under 200 about 15 years ago but i sold it awhile ago to another cgn'r, i missed it imediately hence the new russian one the deals are always popping up so hold off and watch and you will get a good deal on good one
cheers
Steve

I got mine for $219 at Wolverine. Pisses me off I could have saved like $50 if I would have just waited, but who am I kidding, it was worth it to pay more and be able to burn through ammo with it, turning cardboard into swiss cheese. :D

Me too... I wish I would have waited. I bought a chineese a few weeks ago for 199, and today I see a Russian with laminated stock for 209.00

Way better rifle with tighter tolerance on the action.

I might just have to buy another one!.:D

Tighter tolerances? Are you speaking from experience and comparing new un-issued Chinese Military carbines with the Russian carbines? Just asking.
