Anyone had the privilege of shooting a KSVD?
Is it true that it is like having a Barret on 338 Lapua magnum - only 6,5 Kg and more accurate?

This rifle fires a 300 grain bullet at 900 m/s. It's this power we are talking on a 6,5 Kg that operates semi auto.

i would be hard pressed to say that its more accurate than a barrett made rifle..

i have fired Dragunovs before.. which is a terrible rifle to shoot.. kicks like noones business and the ammo is generally rubbish .. the .308 versions are much better

if this KSVD is using a larger calibre round in the same platform, then it will be like being ####-slapped by the devil himself, every time you pull the trigger

EDIT: after doing a small ammount of reading it appears that the KSVD is a type K SVD .. so its the standard dragunov firing the 7.62x54R case ... this rifle sucks to shoot, and is no more accurate than a run of the mill M14. the version you have pictured is the 'Tigr' a shorter, folding stock version for paratroopers.
they have been chambered in 9.3x64 Bernneke .308 and 30-06 for export.

The Medved has been chambered in a very interesting version of the 7.62X54 necked up to around .375 or is it 9.3mm. It seems to have similar ballistics to a .375 Winchester of yore. The only problem with the Medved rifles is aesthetic. Who wants to lug around a semi for woods hunting as long as a rowboat oar? :p

Finally someone tells the truth about the Dragunov.

Also, the difference between the ammo 7.62x54R(D) and Sniper Ammo 7H1 is in the diameter in that the 7H1 is of 7.7mm whereas the former is 7.62mm.

That's how the USSR made this 'special' ammunition for the Dragunov.

basically if you can get an M14 you can get a better rifle, even the norincos ..

i know you guys want to get your hands on them because they are prohib, but really.. much better rifles available for a much lower price ( because dont you go thinking Izmash sell it cheap like the AKs )

This is about the Ksvd, and not the dragunov!

Which the KSVD is a variant of. You are asking a question about a rifle that was designed for the Russian army, based off a civilian variant of of the SVD, firing a 9.3mm cartridge. Also the firearm in question is prohibited.

Now I must ask you, how in the hell could anyone here have fired one? People are trying to help you based on what they know.

The SVD-K ( which is what you mean ) .. is a Dragunov, just in a hunting calibre .. like the Remington 700 comes in .223 .243 .25-06 7-08 .308 etc etc but its still a Remington 700
