7.62x54r

Marstar called me today, 175 bucks for shipping for two crates which works out to about $377 per crate delivered. Doesn't seem bad too bad to ship to the prairies compared to other shipping costs. Shipping charges always suck, but Marstar is just passing on the cost. Its not like i can't afford it, and no one else has it. So Send it to me Honey. I got some Mosins to heat up.:dancingbanana:

And they're shipping me a Yugo M48BO Mauser expected to arrive shortly after Christmas:dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

Howdy

Was at the range today with my 1891/30. Fired 100rnds of surplus ammo.

60rnds was the Russian surplus that Marstar is now selling, 40 rounds were Czech surplus. Shooting 10 shot groups at 100Y, the Russian ammo proved to be more accurate then the Czech stuff.

Glad I bought 2 cases of it:D

Also, for those that don't want to use that lil can opener, if you have an angle grinder, just grind down the top of the rim, takes just two passes. You will see the seam let go, then stick a screw drive in the crack and pry up. Not even 30 seconds:D

For the ones that want to know how to open it, there is an opener in the box. I used a hammer and flat screwdriver to open a can and saw the opener after :( :D :owned:

Thank god I wasn't the only one. Talk about feeling dumb, all pissed that my crate didn't have an opener.... Then I see it, oops

I am a consumer who is all about communication. You sell something online, you need to be able to communicate with your potential buyers. Period. While I like Marstar (their website is crap, lets be honest) and a few other CGN sponsors, they seem to forget that most of us buy online. When I send an Email asking a simple question of how much shipping may be, and I get no response, I move on. Low and behold, their price, including shipping for 880rds from the 'Peg, is cheaper than Marstar's delivery from VanKleek Hill to Ottawa, by a couple of bucks. Not much, but they get my biz.

You should have talked to jason at gunco and not paid shipping at all. ;)

Marstar phoned me with the shipping price for two crates and asked if it was still ok to ship? It seemed a bit high but now that I got them I can see why. Just about ruptured a gizzard trying to carry them across the yard. The boxes really are heavy, and the price from Marstar was within a few dollars of anyone else that was selling it. I'm thinkin I should get a few more cases just to have the extra rounds. I still don't see any prices that are much better.

I just chedked the website today hoping to order one or two cases of your 7.62x54R, only to see that it's out of stock. Is there more on iits way? I was really hoping to stock up on it for my Mosins and SVT40.

Regards,

Frank

Out of Stock?? :eek:

That didn't last very long. It arrived in December and its already gone. Glad I picked up a couple crates when I did. I hope there is more coming?

Thankfully, I checked out Frontier Taxidermy last night to discover that they had two crates left. I called them first thing today, and with the 5% savings on EMT, they came out to pretty much the same as Marstar's pricing to my door (give or take $10).

At Frontier they weren't aware of another incoming source for this ammo. Hopefully Marstar will have some in the future for those who need it.

Cheers,

Frank

PS. For those of you who've shot the Russian ammo, how does it compare to the Czech surplus that preceeded it?

Its a bit better in some of my guns, maybe an inch tighter at 100 yards, but in other guns it shoots the same as the czech surplus. I haven't fired it in all my guns yet, but on average I'd say its better.

Get ready...

7 days from now people will start asking. "Is it here yet?"
14 days from now people will start complaining about lack of service...
21 days from now some people will say you lied about the x54r coming in....

"Between shipping and inspection time.... Expect it late spring / early summer? "

Obviously you are privy to information I do not have, would you mind sharing with us ?

@johnone:

I think he was asking, not telling. To phrase his question a little more clearly:

'Obviously, this is not going to be here this month. Would late spring or early summer be a reasonable estimate for it's arrival, or do you expect it to take longer?'

CAYDEL;
No matter how you phrase it, the ammo will not here this month, March ends in4.1/2 hours.

YES it will be here in April....
