Anyone own both? Thoughts? Feedback? Is the clone decent? Does it meet an acceptable level of performance?

PLEASE,...
- Comment only if you have experience with both firearms. If you have never shot a NP22, don't tell me about your Sig - it is not relevant so I don't care.
- No Norc bashing in general: I do not give a sh!t about your opinion of Norinco. I already own a few Norcs and am very pleased with their performance and that includes a 780 shotty.
- No "buy American/domestic - this is what is wrong with our country" bullsh!t. I lose over 60% of every dollar I make to taxes. What I choose to spend the remaining 40% on is my business, not yours, so take your soap box and move on.
- Stay on topic: I am considering buying a clone ONLY. I will never buy a Sig 226 cause the price point is stupid. In my opinion, they are not worth the money so please don't try to convince me otherwise.
Thanks in advance for respecting the rules of this thread

I don't own either, but I know someone who knows someone who does . He apparently uses his Sig for competitions and his Norc for target practice. He buys Sig parts for his Norc from Brownells. He has his Norc fitted with Hogue grips...all that being said, he loves both.

I agree on the price point of the Sig...it's why I'm getting the clone too.

It seems as if you have already made up your mind to an extent, I have experience with both, buy the NP-22 with absolute confidence.

They are solid guns, a lot of people will agree with me on this when I say they are extremely reliable, accurate, and well made. The fact that you could probably get 3 NP-22's for the price of 1 Sig makes them even more worth buying.

I wouldn't say that the clone is decent, or acceptable, I would say it's great.

Buy one and you will not regret it.

Because this topic has been beaten to death, always with the majority of NP-22 owners vouching for them, I'll be buying one in May as my first pistol. However, if I see a decent Sig show up on the EE for less than $800....

I have shot both. Both belong to members here.

NP - 22 = Avalonthas
Sig 226 = HeavyT

To be 100 percent honest I don't like either of them. The design of the Sig is just not for me. It points low in my hand and they seem to be pretty snappy as they have quite a low bore axis. The grip really is too wide as well.

Now as far as the comparison goes, I can really not notice much of a difference at all. The new Norc's do not have as nice a finish, and you can see some of the machining but they are in no way rough or have sharp edges like many claim. This was typical of the early Norc's but not anymore. The grips are obviously different with the Sig winning as the Norc comes with some cheap plasitc, but that is about the only negative I can say about the Norc. The Norc seems to function just fine, and is a solid design. Accuracy wise, once again I didn't notice any difference. I actually shot a little better with the Norc, but that might be because the Norc was in 9mm and the Sig was a .40.

They have been very popular and many here use them with no problems. I am actually slightly pissed off that I don't like the Sig design more because a 9mm for $350 is an amazing deal and I would buy one in a second if the design worked better for me.

I think it boils down to what you want to spend. If you can afford the Sig it's finish is far greater and is the original legendary sidearm. If you are buying a first pistol or just want to spend less the Norinco is great. Reliable, accurate and comfortable but I would swap the grips the seam on the backstrap isn't very solid. I owned the Norc and sold it to a friend as a first pistol and he loves it too. The price is great. That being said if I had the money Id buy the Sig.

Buddy of mine first bought a brand new genuine Sig. Shot it a lot, used it for IPSC.

Then he tried someone elses Norinco clone. Could not tell the difference functionally, so sold the real Sig to finance a Norinco M4 and has never looked back. Finish is superior on a real Sig as has been mentioned.

I tried his real Sig once and it wasn't for me as it did not fit me very well. Very snappy for a 9mm IMHO.

Its a good purchase. I own one (as stated above) and I have shot the real Sig226. I can't tell the difference as I shoot the same with both (I'm terrible with both haha).

For what it is, you can't beat the norinco. Personally a glock fits better in my hand, but Norinco has yet to clone it :( If they did, I would buy 2!

I worked in a shop that made parts for the Sig.

That being said, I would put my money on the Nork over the Sig any day.

I laugh when I see posts about sig quality. I seen them made, machine shops can't afford actual machinists so they hire students at $12/ hour.

Norinco np 22

I tried the Norinco NP22 in 9mm at the range I belong to and it functioned just fine . I waited around till I could find a decient price on an older CZ 75 and went that route. as for a Norinco I have my sights set on a 1911 Norinco in the future as I can't afford to spend huge dollars on toys .

and from what I have read they work just fine . I hope your happy with what you end up buying .
