An exact list of what to buy for Lee Loadmaster 223 and 40 S&W set-up

I have spent the last 3 months researching precision reloading for my Savage 12 and the last month researching progressive presses for an AR and pistol. Because I'm cheap, just getting started out, and mechanically/DIY inclined, I will be purchasing a Lee Loadmaster soon in addition to the Lee single stage press set up for 223 precision loading.

So before I go ahead and make the purchase, I figure it would be wise to use this forum and would like to have the experts (you) take a look at exactly what I will be buying so I'm good to go with all the necessary spares. I am familiar with loadmastervideos.com and google but have not been able to find a good post similar to this one.

  • Small priming tool assembly (not sure if this is included in the set)

The scale, (Forester) case trimmer, ultrasonic case cleaner, and trays are included with the precision set-up I've already got lined up. In addition, i'll have a Lee auto (hand) priming tool and a single stage press for decapping the rifle brass before ultrasonic cleaning, not sure about cleaning the pistol brass...

After a lot of research I believe I've got the time and patience to learn how to make the Loadmaster work. I am set on buying it so please keep the Dylon, Hornady, Lyman, and RCBS comments for another post :) I'll get there one day...

First thing you do is buy a Hornady L-N-L unless you like punching your self in the balls,because you will get more satisfaction punching your sack than loading on the pro 1000 or the loadmaster . Trust me I am dutch and cheap as well , I have been there and done it with the lees ( I will prove them wrong attitude) ,I now own a L-N-L AP. Remember when you buy the hornady you get free bullets too, it will offset the cost and will damm near be the same price as the loadmaster .

bah, the lee pro 1000 does have it's major downfalls, but it works and works fine if you keep an eye on things. that being said i bought one to tide me over until i have the money for a LNL AP.
 
As a Loadmaster owner I would not suggest this for your first press. And not for "Precision" .223 loading.

I would recommend the 50th Anniversary Kit. Or the Classic Cast press, or Classic Turret press with you adding the gear to make your own "kit"

haha, funny you should mention that.

here is the worst crushing the press has done, and boy am i glad it didn't go off. i've only used win primers, and will likely stick with them. i also have cci which i will use once i switch to small pistol primer brass for the 45.

i will likely try to build something to have it only put one primer at a time and keep the other primers away from the one being pushed in.

Its not for precision reloading, that set-up I've already got picked out.
