wild boar in alberta??????

Theres the odd "friend of a friend with a buddy that met a guy in a bar who's
cousin shot one out by Mayerthorpe" ramble on this board every now and then. They are shot on sight as an invasive species. I think that they have been pretty much eradicated now.

Try the search function, you'll see this topic has been whipped harder than a bear defense thread.

Sigh, I wish.

Well, really not as from what I've seen on tv they are NOT a good thing to have around, but.....

Sigh.....

I'm currently building a little stockrack to fit in my tapered box %$#@ 1/2 ton so I can BUY a friggin pig to butcher.

Oh, to be able to just go whack a wild boar whenever we needed bacon, porkchops, and ham...

Sigh.....

One of my colleagues saw a few on the fields near Lees Lake and another bunch north of Coleman.

Spoke with a landowner that has property bordering Waterton Park. He commented on shooting a few hogs on his place and showed me some pics of 20 or so animals on the fields in the evenings. He invited me out for a shoot, but I have yet to get a chance to go out.

The Hutterites near Longview have been complaining about feral hogs for a couple years now.

3 seasons back while hunting mulies, I saw several hogs on the Milk River Ridge, not far from the Knight Ranch. I was disappointed as I had not spotted a good buck, and the hogs were too far out for a shot.
