I have a Diana Mod. 460 Magnum in .22 cal.
I was wondering what scopes out there are good for spring airguns. Any recommendations would be good. It already "ate" one scope designed for regular firearms. I was told it would survive. They were wrong!
Thanks.

Google specialty shooting sports out of Cranbrook. Great service and prices.

They carry the Hawke line. Email them with what you need/want and what you are willing to spend.

A high powered spring airgun like you Diana will destroy a scope designed for firearms.
When you pull the trigger on a springer, the piston begins to move forward, at this moment all is good with any scope as firearm scopes are designed for rearward recoil.
However, when the piston hits the end of the air tube, the momentary, violent forward motion is what firearm scopes are not designed/built to withstand.
With lower powered springer airguns you can sometimes get away with a firearm scope.
For your Diana you need to purchase a scope that is designed for a magnum spring powered air gun.
Airgun specific scope mounts are also available and may be a good idea to avoid scope movement.
You can do some research/shopping on sites like Pyamidair, you may also want to visit Canadian Airgun Forum and visit some of their airgun vendors, as they are more 'local'.
Good luck with the new airgun and scope.

I use a Leapers 3-9x40 and a RWS one-piece scope mount on my Diana 48(.22cal).
It was fairly inexpensive($87.00 for scope only and 39.99 for mount) and has held up so far without any problems.(Approx. 3000 shots.) I bought it on-line from a airgun supplier.

I had a Leapers 3-9 x 32 on my M14 which is also hard on scopes due to the cycling of the gas system. I think the Leapers are a great value for under 100 yard guns. Crosshairs are a little fat for long range and the eye relief is a little short for anything that recoils much. But for an air rifle and rimfires s Leapers will do fine IMO.

I bought three leapers scopes from AirgunSource in Peterborough and was always impressed with the speed he processed the orders.
