Hey all,

I have been thinking that I like the idea a 17hm2 semi, and thought my 10/22t might be a good place to start.

However it seems that 17hm2 barrels are not cheap in Canada.

SO, it seems I must ask those who took the plunge before me:

Would you do the conversion again if you knew what you know now?

or simply, Is it worth it?

Thanks

Yep, I'd do it again just to have a spare. :) I too grabbed the barrel and heavy bolt handle here on CGN, and I'm not sure which dealer(s) might carry them.

Another semi-auto option would be to find a Marlin 717m2. They seem quite rare however, but were quite affordable when available as new. I think with scope, rings, taxes and shipping mine came in around $400, and it's a Very accurate little rifle in Mach 2 (top rifle in the photo below)

I've got a 717 as well. It'll put 5 shots into an inch pretty consistantly. It has a definite ammo preference- Hornady over Eley. The Eley stuff shoots well but get one or two ftf per mag- seems to loaded a bit hotter than the Hornady stuff.

I've got a .17hm2 barrel on order with mysticplayer. Price was comparable with any other 10/22 heavy barrel. Pm him, he has a few options.
