Just picked this up today, only cost $100, sales receipt says norinco, but even with my limited knowlage of the sks i am sure this is russian.

1. it has star with 1953r
2. sling mount not on side.
3. matching numbers on stock, receiver, bolt, trigger

not original mag as you can see.

am i correct in saying this is a russian sks?

Thanks

Do the #'s relate to the cover? '53 Tula armory, Russian. $100 can't complain 'bout that can you! Now all you need is 2-3 crates of ammo and some range time eh!:D

I am not complaining :) well yes a bit, it cost me $22 for 20 rounds cuzz i couldn't wait to try it on the range, must go outdoor range soon or i will be broke at those prices.

With laminate stock to boot... yup, its a russian and a good deal. congrats

Thanks :)

That laminated stock looks an awful lot like mine, and it's a Russian. But yeah, check to see if the numbers match, cause your cover is definitely Russian. Do you have the bayo? Is it spike or blade?

Don't let cheap (inexpensive) scare anyone. One of my buddies has a beat up, black bolt Russian reburb with non-chrome bore that looks basically ugly. Its the best shooter of all of our 18 or 20 that we collectively own.

Don't count them out til you see how they group.

Hi

didn't come with a bayo, or cleaning kit, just what you see in pic.

Since you mention you have limited knowledge, I will ask, did you look in the butt of the stock for your cleaning kit??

Where did you pick this rifle up ??

heavyB, yes i did, the first thing i did :)

picked it up from my local club (crafm), well used, bit of rust but for $100 i don't mind the condition.

f55, congrats on a great deal! Definitely looks like a Russian Tula 1953...since the bayo is missing you might consider installing the bipod made for the SKS...makes those groups nice and tight...

100 yards with iron sights

took a long drive to the outdoor range and happy with then results

4 inch groups at 100yards for $100 rifle :) from bench using sandbags, 123gr mfs fmj

Have to say MANY THANKS to FABSPORTS for the sight adjustment tool and tapco mag, that sight adjustment tool is must for this rifle.
