Was that the ones that were deactivated in the late 90's by filing down the firing pin and sold as surplus?

X2. Even though you bought it from someone in Canada I don't understand why you would contact the manufacturer. Best to let sleeping dogs lie. My .02 cents not that anyone gave a s*** I'm sure :D

Dont get yourself worked up or worried about anything. I think the US government has bigger problems like the Economy and such vs a scope sold on Ebay.

its the government! the economy is in the tank, they're funding tons of immigrants, but decide that seniors are collecting too much on their pension cheques so they cut it. C'mon! Gotta be smart about it, the government will waste time, money and resources on EVERYTHING but what is actually important.
 
You do realize there is a whole lot of ACOGS being surpluses by the US Army. They recently found out that the serial numbers are actually quotes from the bible. They have a law that calls for separation of state and religion. Thus they must sell them, this sight that you maybe talking about may come from this lot, IIRC they are surplusing numbers in the thousands. But, alas it is also an ITAR item. Therefore this might be an issue as well. My 2 cents. R711 out

Your mail from the US may be flagged for secondary inspection IE: opened as well you may be subject to a ban from traveling to the US or have secondary screening both arriving and leaving the US for some time

Yes the US government will persue this case to the end .They do take ITAR Violations and theft seriously just ask those that bought M203 grenade launchers from Joe Dlask it was a Lose Lose Lose situation for everyone involved .

No

Dlask was involved in importing and sellling brand new M203 GL's several years back that were illegaly imported into Canada and exported out of the US (ITAR violation) units were sold and delivered and a few months later the RCMP came by and collected them and returned them to Colt .AFIK Dlask was charged what came of it I am not sure but the people that bought the GL's were not charged and eventualy they were reimbursed full price for the GL's. There have been others on this site that have run afoul of US laws ITAR and State they are persona non grata in the US for life
 
Thanks for getting me on the same page, I was posting from memory and I obviously didn't have the facts straight.

I can't help but muse your closing statement about the US.It seems that shear loyalty is not enough for the DOS, I'm not sure what the US perceives as "friends" these days? Clearly the GL's were for private ownership and I don't condone that they weren't exported correctly, however I don't see how they can champion the right of gun ownership in there country and then dismiss it in a similar society like Canada.

IMO the hypocrisy takes away from the "American" model of a "Free Nation"
