Ruger 77/44 mag loads

I tried quite a few loads and came to the conclusion that hot H110 loads shot pretty well with all the bullets I tried. Other powders didnt shoot near aswell.

What is your "Hot load" of H110?
If you don't want to post it, you could PM me.

I agree. I had a 77/44 and I reloaded just under max with H110 and 180gr Hornady XTP's. About an inch group at 50 yards off the bench. I never did go too hot with it though and it didn't show any signs of over pressure. I sold it and now I shoot a H&R Handi with a 500S&W round. I would like to buy another 77/44 but in a stainless this time.
I heard that lighter bullets at faster speeds work best in this gun and there is a bolt fix that should tighten up your groups. The bolt fix is in reference to the 2 piece bolt being somewhat loose and creates inconsistancies with headspacing between shots. If you replace the pin with a bigger one it then tightens up the bolt. I never did try the bolt fix because I was satisfied with the accuracy.

htt p://www.centerfirecentral.com/ron77.html refers to the 77/22 but I believe the bolts are made the same.

Good luck, have fun and be careful.

Best factory was Hornady Leverevolution. Much better than the Winchester White Box in my 77/44.

I'm still testing reloads and haven't reached a conclusion yet. The 240 Hornady XTP over a maximum load of Blue Dot shot well but I have a few other loads to try.

HI guys,
Best all around load in my 77/44 has been 25grs H110 with a 240gr HXTP. For Factory can't beat the Federal 240 JHP. Shot a muley buck with the factory load at 150yds and couldn't tell the difference between my .35 remington. Good rifles and the only complaint I would mention is the mag release is a little easy to dislodge on mine while shooting (hand position maybe) but not bad enough to poo-poo the gun overall.

Just tryed differents ammos in my Ruger 77 44 and i have to tell i just found the most accurate load for it ... Those Fiocchi 200 gr Extrema are running slightly over 2000 fps ( i chrony all of them and had only 10 running under 2k ) and grouping under one inch at 100 metres, ten groupings in a row, could not beleive it, never got to shoot under 2 inches even with my reloads, now from a pistol caliber out of a long tube this is extraordinary performance, i am ordering a bunch of them now, this is my new overall load... JP.

I just calculate the energy of the Fiocchi 200 gr Extrema almost 1900 pounds at the mouth, incredible accuraccy, i will test it but i think my 77 44 could get me easy 150 metres kill shots... JP.
