Hello guys,
I want to start reloading (revolver / rifle ammo)
What is a good system that won't break the bank ?
What are the items I really nead and the useless gadgets ?
What are some of the common mistakes in reloading equipment ?

I bought the LEE Challenger kit 5 years ago. Have used it regularly over that time with no issues. Not the best money can buy, but I have had good results with it. I really didn't like the case lube though.
 
Go RCBS, I've been reloading on a RS3 single stage since 1986 and put out easily 200,000 quality reloads in 13 different calibers. About 3 years ago I broke a pivot pin and RCBS replaced it for free. Gotta love that type of customer service.

Well for years I had an older aluminum frame RCBS press and then I sold her off not that she did'nt do the job but an RCBS rock chucker press came up for sale . it's an older one but it's a stronger press than the other one.

you'll need a good press a powder scale a powder measureing device that drops the load in your brass dies powder primers a way to prime you brass. some presses have a primeing device built into them . but I bought an RCBS hand primer and it works great . and a case trimmer and of course a reloading book .

do yourself a favour and get a friend who's been into reloading for long time to show you how to reload and whatever you do don't reload when your in a rush . take your time and wear glasses be it safety glasses or prescription glasses. you can't replace your eyes . and if your not sure of something don't be afraid to ask questions . safety first .
 
My vote is the Lee Challenger. I bought the anniversary kit about 4 years ago and have had no issues after loader over 5000 rounds of 223, 6.5x55, 30-30, 308, 30-06, 300 WSM and 375 Ruger. If I was to choose again, it would still be Lee, only their new Challenger press with Breach lock die system. No more threading dies in and out. Their scale and powder measures work fine but others seem to disagree on this. To each their own.

But everything said is true....Lee believes in truth in advertising. My Classic Turret lives up to all the hype.

There are much better sets out there but Lee was the cheapest and got me going right-away, no problems with it to date.
