supernova requested some pics on another thread, not wanting to hijack that thread I started this one.

one is all matching the other is non matching and has been shot.

the one that got shot I have a statement from the soldier that brought it back. he turned the corner of a hut and found himself face to face with a NVA soldier. they both raised their rifles and the US soldier was faster, he fired hitting the sks in the bayonet. firing a quick second shot took oput the NVA soldier.

the only pics I could find of the one that got shot are the receiver, bayonet and one of it in a fajen stock the soldier bought for it to take it hunting. I couldn't find any with the original stock.

Wow. The history behind the rifle is what makes it precious. I would not sell it for the world, just to honour the man you got it from. Great pics.

What a beautiful piece of history. I am suprized how great of condition it's in. This rifle and the M14 are by far my 2 favorite rifles of all time. Just wish you were north of the 49th so I could make you an offer that you couldn't refuse ;)

bb, interesting story , any more info as to why the US soldiers and the NVA connected there?
