hey guys, new around here. I never introduced myself. Im a bc boy, spent most of my life up north in the mountains, and love the outdoors. I bowhunt in the fall and just decided to get back into shooting rifles. I got my first gun when i was 6 (a great little .22 that my dad had to cut the stock off of so I could shoot it haha) and I've always shot throughout the years. but for hunting, honestly i prefer my bows, its just more fun/challenging for me. But even with the eight rifles in the safe, for some reason I've never had a shotgun. Im going to pick up one of the da grizzlys with ghost rings and Im just wondering about aftermarket doodads.
been lurking in here for a while, and hope to be a regular around here!

I always customize my stuff, its just fun lol. and I like to make things "my own", so I'm looking for add ons and upgrades for it.

Ive already decided to go with the hogue 12" lop overmolded stock, and I'm looking for a good follower/spring. any suggestions? also looking at the tacstar or mesa saddle, but my just go with a neoprene band around the stock.

what would you guys suggest to "upgrade" a grizz? triggers? ejectors? etc?

any input would be really appreciated, thanks in advance!

The receiver could use lightening.:D
Otherwise she is perfect.

Seriously though, the only thing that could be useful is a butt saddle for extra ammo. Rails, lights and junk seem like extra stuff.

you can try this set up... i like it a lot.

Here is what I did to my Grizzly, pretty basic, but it fits my needs perfectly. During my "field season" it regulary accompanies me on silviculture contract compliance inspections.

I thought about a side saddle, but I decided against it due to the extra weight. Extra ammon is carried in the pocket of my cruiser's vest.

1st thing I would do is ditch the stocks. Heavy and have no grip. When wet.
Next I would change the follower and polish the chamber.
These items are a must.
Other things like refinishing the gun so it don't rust are a good idea but up to you.
Then think on weather you want to carry ammo on the gun, if its your go to gun for bear or HD them having ammo on\with the gun is a must.
We do make and sell lots of shotgun stuff. Check our website to see if we have a dealer near you.

thanks for all the responses everyone.

badboybeeson- do you mean youd change the original stock or the hogue overmolded 12" LOP stock? And could you polish the tube yourself or would you need a gunsmith to do that? Im in edmonton if that helps lol. What company do you work with?

CKid - very nice, im a big fan of the wood stocks. I'm torn between getting a wood stock and refinishing it myself, or just getting the hogue, because I want a short stock but honestly not too keen on having to chop a stock.

Reddog and dmitry - Damn! That is siiiick! real nice boys, real nice indeed. The only thing keeping me from a magfed is that its going to be a camp/hiking/bear gun as well as the HD. And I just feel more comfortable with a tube fed for that for some reason, just a personal thing I guess lol.

thanks again everyone lots of good ideas, I cant wait to get her all geared up lol.

Work for myself www.sjhardware.com :D
Polishing the chamber can be doen 2 ways
the right way, with a chamber polishing hone, a smith with charge you anywhere from $30-50 for that.
DIY . bore brush with 0000 steel wool wraped around it and some oil, use a cordless drill. Messy but can be done for under $5

RE the stocks, yes dump the facyory stocks and buy houge short LOP

what about the follower spring? I read that the police version has a longer spring. what length would you suggest for the 12.5? if any change that is...

I am still running the stock spring and it hasn't given me any grief. But the longer Police spring would ensure reliability over the long term... I will probably look at getting one soon, as well as upgrading my follower....

What's the length of spring you're going to put in?

Just looking through my information the newer style Police spring has a length of 19 to 20 inches, which would be about 3 inches longer than a non LE spring.
