Is there a best type of tumbler?

So is a vibration tumbler that most manufacturers make for smaller batches of brass better than a tumbler that turns in a drum?

Is there any advantage or disadvantage to using a rock tumbler type drum that turns on its side over a vibration type upright?

It looks like rock tumblers that turn around on their side are built a lot better than most of the tumblers from lee, hornady and lyman that are marketed for brass cleaning.

I'm pretty satisfied with my Lortone QT-12. The rotary rock tumblers run a lot quieter than the vibratory ones marketed to reloaders.

Yeah, I have the Lyman 2500 and it works quite well.

I tried the Lyman vibratory brass tumbler which was very good then last Christmas was given a gift of the Frankford Arsenal I like it very much it may even be more quiet than the Lyman.
Both work very well.

I like the Frankford Arsenal walnut media. It's a finer and much cleaner media than the others. I also like their reloading trays and ammo box labels. They make some good $hit.

I will try out the reloading trays and other gear made by Frankford Arsenal the tumbler and media really do work well.

I had a second hand lymn (600 i think?) tumbler that looked brand new. The damn thing would stop vibrating and just hum, so much so that you'd have sit an watch it for ear of it burning out. i had to CUT THE BOTTOM OFF wth a dremel tool and use a chisel on thehalf pound of hot glue that was in there to get the motor out to be cleaned and lubed. found a broken mounting screw, and had to drill out the screw holes for replacement (just try finging a 4" number 6 screw in a small town!). I promptly bought a frankford arsenal tumbler, again used, with the media seperator, bucket and all tht jazz...works a lot better than the lyman.

yes there is!! it's called an "Ultrasonic" cleaner

amazing results, in a very very short time but those tumblers do polish well with the right media and Nu Polish.

I'm not sure where you get this information? Is this from personal experience, or do you have a source that you can link us to?

I've used my Thumler's Tumbler Ultra Vibe 18 for years, and loaded with way more than one thousand 9mm cases at a time which it handles very easily. I use flitz media additive, and I don't have to go more than two hours for perfectly cleaned brass.
