new .243 Tikka or Ruger?

Lots of guys are electing for the ruger.. I picked up a new hawkeye in 257 roberts a few months ago.. Ive put about 100 rounds down the tube(all handloaded) the best grouping I can get at 100 yards is about 3.5"s.. Its a gorgeous gun.. But after this poor performance,, Ill probably have to put 5-600 into it to get it to shoot 1.5".. Unacceptable as far as im concerned! Will be the last hawkeye I ever purchase!

I have a Ruger & a Rem. both are good and both shoot very well. I like the wood stock of the Ruger better than the syn. Rem. Both shoot the 87gr v-max very well(if you could find any around:(). Buuy the one you like and you can have it a lifetime.

If you have the money, I would opt for the Ruger. I've heard the Tikka's being described as "Feeling like an over priced airsoft gun...with the same amount of quality"

But, Im not you. Pick both rifles up. See which one "feels" right and buy it.

You wont have any regrets

I noticed you don't have either of the 2 rifles he's interested in though, to compare your Savage accuracy to, which makes it sound completely biased to me.

hi-jack attempt?

A Ruger is hit or miss in the accuracy department, question is do you feel lucky. If it is inaccurate then you will have to try and sell it, good luck with that. In my experiences a Savage has a slight edge over the Tikka in accuracy.

The Ruger or Tikka will be more accurate than you need for any hunting situation you may find yourself in, unless you plan on shooting deer past 500 yards. .

Now that the accuracy issue is dealt with, you have the more important issue to deal with: Reliability. And Ruger beats the T3 out in that regard, with ease.

Simply because the Ruger is up at a great price I would go with it. I do like the Tikka and chances are it will be slightly more accurate, but if it is just a hunting rifle, you have nothing to lose going with the Ruger.

That said I would buy a Savage!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I have examples of both rifles, several in fact and I do like both makes.
My Rugers and T3s are well used, neither make are treated any different and I fail to see where the Rugers are any more reliable than the Tikkas.
The triggers on my Tikkas are considerably better than my Rugers, they feed smoother than the Rugers, and with a bit of load work one is as accurate as the other.
One thing the Tikkas have in my opinion that is lacking in some of my Rugers is Quality control in the assembly and finish.

Not trying to pick a fight here, this has simply been my experience involving the last half dozen of each make that I've played with....
