Pistol Grip Shotguns

I use a Maverick 88 with an 18 inch barrel and full stock myself, and even though it is a 4 inch longer barrel it is really light and easy to carry as well. Only $229!!!

Speaking of bear defense, is the maverick 88 good with slugs? I'm deciding between that and the regular 500 model, with a stock of course. The 500 is about 120 bucks more, but it seems to be a bit heavier, has a better fit and finish, and the longer barrel offers better accuracy, but either gun would only be carried on camping trips.

The Maverick 88 is just a Mossberg 500 without the tang safety or matte finish, other than that theyre the same gun. You can cut the factory stock down if its too long, or buy an aftermarket youth stock. Theyre good little shotguns for the money. Theyre a smooth cyl. bore on the security models, safe with any rifled slug 2 3/4" and 3"

exactly pistol grip will f**k your face up since you would bring it up to use the bead

Funny, I've got about 100 rounds at least through various shotguns using pistol grip only stocks, and have yet to hurt myself. Perhaps that only happens to folks of lesser intelligence. Even firing one handed, I do it like a big handgun, and get away unscuffed.

I'm not advocating for PGO shotguns, just saying that they can be used safely, if used properly. For a defensive purpose shotgun, you definitely want a stock. Personally I prefer AR-style stock and pistol grips, such as BlackHawk Knoxx stock, which is what I have on all my pumps.

i'm going to to be the odd man out- winchester defender with a folding stock- got mine for considerably less than 300, and had it for years- and you may be able to make a better deal on it as it's not as popular as a 870 or a mossberg 500, 590, ow whatever-

On the Norinco HP9, does anybody have a preference for the 12.5" barrel over the 14" barrel, and if so, why? What are the advantages or disadvantages of either? Is there more capacity to mount a flashlight underneath the 14" than the 12.5"?
