SVT-40 Ammo Question

:confused: I've got some 203grain 7.62x54r. Am I right to assume that the pressure behind this round could damage my SVT-40? Would I be better off tracking down something more in the range of 180 grain?

Turn down your gas setting and you will not have problems. The proper ammo for the SVT are 147-150 grs but firing heavier bullets from time to time wont hurt. Firing thousands of heavy bullets could be hard on the action but not for fews.
