Hey I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have a savage 93 17 hmr with the syntheic stock. I purposely bought the cheap synthenic stock so I could up grade to a boyds.

THe gun is a RH bolt. I am a LH. So I need a ambidexterious palm swell. Does anyone own a boyds classic stock on a savage HMR that could tell me if its ambidexterious palm swell?

Also is the LOP on boyds classic the same as the savage factory stock?

Thanks a ton.

No responses? I would just email Boyds, I found them very helpful. When switching from synthetic to wood remember to ask about bottom metal.

I did email them. I asked them if they had a stock preferably laminante that would give me a longer LOP and be usable for both RH and LH. So a ambidxertious palm swell. They wrote me back and said the closest thing is their "tacticool" stock. I wrote back and asked why they recomemnd tacticool, because its their only ambidexterious stock or because it gives longer LOP than the others? I haven't gotten a response yet, so I thought I'd ask here and hope that someone has a savage 93 HMR laminant stock from them that can tell me if it has ambidexterious palm swell.

hopefully they get back to me. I absolutely love their laminantes!

Well if you go with the Tacticool you won't be dissapointed. I have one on my Remington 597 and it is saaaweet.

Good luck.

thanks for the replys.

I think the savages that come with boyds are all thumbholes.. I can't go thumbhole as I am LH and I'm trying to get the girl friend to go out for gohpers with me.

I really really like the lamininate stock. I can't see the tacticool being much different than the synthetic stock that came with it. I'd like it a lot more if the butt wasn't hallow and the foreend didn't bend so easily. With the bull barrel the muzzle end is very heavy.

thanks for the input

Would the TactiCool stock still not be better than the composite one, it is after all - Hardwood Stock w/ Black Textured Finish - so it would not be hollow in the butt end ?

I didn't know the tacticool was hardwood stock with just a black textured finish. That might be suitable. Better than factory anyways. Thanks for the info

I tried out a BSEV at Jo Brook, and it worked fine for me, a south paw. The only thing I didnt like was that the ambidextrous stock is a bit low on the cheek piece, and it doesnt really fit me, my face is not tight against the stock. I ordered a GLV, and plan to order a stock from Richards Microfit in lefty thumbhole. All that said, the Boyd stock was pretty cool.
