Like Rembo, I had Bill Leeper build me a 308 Norma Mag, but mine on a 700 Remington Action. McGowan 1-10" twist 26" tube, all blueprinted and bedded into a very nicely figured maple stock. Can't wait to get it out to the range and try it out! Thanks, Bill! Eagleye.

I was really intrigued by that stock. Obviously from the Remington custom shop, it is the only fiddleback maple, Remington factory stock I have seen. Interesting.
I've enjoyed seeing the surge in interest in the 308 Norma (I made three this past winter); my favourite 30 magnum. Regards, Bill

Wow!
Nice rifle...Amazing stock!
Bet is shoots like a SOB too!

The scope bases.....Look nice but Yuk!
Sooner or later they will make you sad.

The stock originally came on a small number of Custom Shop, 200th year anniversary 30-06 rifles in 1993.
The floorplate was engraved: "Eliphalet Remington - 1793 - 1993"
I acquired it with a bulged barrel, so no longer collectable. I took the action and screwed on another barrel, hung it in a regular BDL stock, kept the wood and bottom metal.
Later, I sold the wood to a friend who wanted it, but immediately regretted that, so when he offered it back to me, I bought it back.
Had this project on the back burner for some time, so decided to get it done.
Bill Leeper was the 'smith of choice for this one, since not only does his work need no introduction, but he loves the 308 Norma Mag.
I notice that the chamber in this one is nice and tight [brass that fits my M81 Classic does not even come close to fitting this rifle.]
I will load a bunch of ammo and soon try this out. Regards, Eagleye.

The .308 had a reputation for being a tad much on the recoil side. I have not had the pleasure of proving this wrong, but I suspect hat it came from the various types of stocks and types of rifles that were rechambered in the hayday of magnums. Plenty potent and a good reputation in the killing department. Waiting for feedback on the recoil and the groups.
