Camo use and patterns?

The best camo for big game is using the wind and sitting still.IMO, using camo for big game is the biggest marketing scam in the outdoors world.Look at hunting pictures from 30 or 40 years ago, all they wore were warm clothes and they hunted in the bush with their 30-30's.Kinda funny how they market the camo patterns so that the ones HUMANS see the least are the ones we buy.The deers aren't watching wild T.V. ;)

You can wear a bozzo the clown suit when hunting whitetail if you like as long as you are down wind and don't move, birds, yes that is a different story.

I agree. Another marketing scam is scent control clothing.

The important part is not specifically the camo "pattern" itself, it is functional properties of the clothing (wind/ waterproof and warmth).

The "pattern", is nothing more than personal preference. (Ford vs Chev)

Scent control clothing is a farce. :stirthepot2:

For deer/moose rifle hunts, blaze orange is mandatory in Ontario. It is mandatory for a reason. The only option is what to wear in the pants.

For bow hunt I wear MONBU for both tree and ground stands. Sitting motionless is key. Sense control is very important for the close encounters.

At the risk of a hijack, do you really think blaze orange makes a difference? I am sort of skeptical about its use. Lots of places dont use it and they are fine.

Don't think it really does, we had a fellow get shot last deer season here is Sask, wearing his manditory colors, he was looking at the guy that shot him. The hunter was shooting at a deer and didn't see him standing just beyond the deer.

You probably read the article on here.

It does make you more visibile but not invincible from stupidity.

There was a 3 part article in Predator Xtreme (started Oct 2008) magazine on how coyotes see and it was pretty informative.

edit I found the magazine online and you can read it at this link

Agreed. I'll take quiet clothing over something that looks cool.
