Ahhh....the good old days of cheap(er) primers

I still have about 6 boxes of the CCI primers. One of them has $1.25 written on it.
I've got one can of IMR4831 that has $19.99 on it and a date of Aug/83 written on it
Another can of 4831 powder that has $5.49 on it, but no date. Another can of H870 that has $3.15 on the price tag, no date....and finally, a can of IMR3031 with a price tag of $5.25..no date. I can't find that can on 4905 on my shelf...probably still packed in a box from the move. I think it said somewhere around six bucks on it.

Oh man...the 22 box brought back some memories. I worked my tail off at my dad's garage everyday after school till close at 6pm to get my $1.00/week allowance on Friday......and off to either Home Hardware or Canadian Tire I'd go.

Yep, some neat old memories are flooding back right now. When I got my first 22 rimfire rifle at age 8, shorts were 39 cents, longs were 49 and LR were 59. When I started handloading, you could buy H4831 Surplus in bulk for $1.00/lb. also 4895 surplus for $1.25/lb. those were neat times to live in. But even with higher prices today, we sure have a lot better and a lot more variety for reloaders. Regards, Eagleye.

I just picked up a couple thousand CCI250 and Fed215 primers in a private sale for $16/thousand 
Grandfather passed away a couple of months ago and we are cleaning out his home. Found 3 old boxes of Dominion .303 Brit in like new condition with a 5.99 sticker on each one.

I guess this thread makes me feel young hahaha. I'm 23, started reloading and think $31 for 1k primers is an awesome deal! Gonna hate to see prices 50 years from now.
Yes sir I am real old. I have some win 209's that I bought of all places Woolco I think?? for 1.44/100 on 1.44 day . They were right next to the old green 12ga shot shells which were 2.44 a box.
The ones with the clear plastic top.
My brother and I would sit on the top of a hill at grandfathers and literally shoot for hours on end. We would then go over to the next hill and repeat. By the time we got to the third hill and cleaned it out we would go back to the first hill and away we would go again. Most were one or two shot kills but lets say we shot 5 times for a kill and each of us would bring a brick of 500 and that would last us till about 1 or 2pm. Then we would have to go back to the farm house and get more ammo. That is a lot of gophers. lol
